I just cut back the foliage that was blocking our way to the shed and I have decided that the grass needs to be tackled first and then the hedge. Think I will put OH onto those jobs and I will clear the worst of the weeds from the beds and get them covered with the first bits of cardboard that we have scavenged.

We have never let it get this bad, I need to stop stressing about it as there was no other options this summer than to focus on our family and not the garden. Still it is quite overwhelming and the weather up until now has certainly not helped.

Me too, but as you say, that's normal, and it's also double hot & sweaty today.

Finally made a start on the foundation for the new chicken house, but didn't get too far with that before other things cropped-up. Then, in the afternoon, our annual boundary hedge cut took place, so it was down tools and do all the picking-up along the road etc.

Strangely, Mr Dog's son couldn't make it to do our hedges, but the guy who came instead was very careful & thorough, so the elm hedge looks amazing. I know a lot of that is also down to DW and DD who have done lots to it in the last 3 years. :)

On the field & roadside we decided to do a heavier cut this year, which looks severe, but it will stop the younger trees keeling-over as a couple did last winter, having become too top-heavy.

Well, here's hoping CTC gets some good weather for the Bash and whatever else she has planned...;););)

....and that your poorly chicken perks up, alfie. :)

Walking across the fields today it was obvious how much rain we've had, as even the dry bits were still squelching a bit. :(

Rummer, as Itsme says, develop selective vision when it comes to your garden and see only what you want to see. Even for us full-timers, this year has been a real struggle....:o

some ars e hole just stopped on the bypass road, with no break lights working etc....

so havent long got home with the caravan, and hubby has gone back up with the local garage guy to get the van ( over an hour away)

and the bloody police let him drive away:eek::eek::eek::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

so basically he will claim off our insurance ( very minor back door dent and broken light on his van) and we claim of the poor owners of the mini, even the mini owners were saying to the police what the van guy done, but they wernt interested

Now next year our insurance is going to be sooooooooo expensive, i honestly dont think the business or ourselves will be able to afford it...

Plus i got a bruised boobie

OH MY LORD.... did you get the other drivers number?? BL**DY well tell your insurance co to contest it. get mini driver to back you. id put in a claim through small claims against him.. ring the police station and ask for full report and NOTES taken by officer at the time. if driver had faulty brake lights HE is in the wrong and police should have in thier notebook notes that they checked the drivers lights before they allowed them to leave the scene. if not you can put in a complaint which can help you not get an increase in your policy.

sorry to blurb legal stuff but i know the police side.....

are you going back to the BB tomorow? be a shame to let this blight your trip....
