I was suprised at myself too, with not buying any piggies, BUT i had to be realistic... we are away from wednesday to sunday, and did not want to rely on anyone seeing to them, Plus.. i couldnt let my heart rule my head... with the runty looking weaners...
A few people/neighbours are asking about the pigs, and asking if we are aloud to keep them there, and if we will be living in the house when the pigs arrive....We also got told by one person, that there are on or two people who live nearby that dont like the idea of the pigs being there....
So it looks as though there could be some 2 faced neighbours around, that we will have to keep an eye on.. as they sound as though they could be a pain......BUT... I have a masters degree in being a pain in the !!!!;)
Right got to go..... catch you all later/tomorrow
in my lease here im not allowed to keep pigs for COMMERCIAL use.. i can for personal use [so i can eat mabel if i wish...:D ] take me years..:o :rotfl:
may be worth checking your deeds but im sure your ok where you are. i think there are regs on where the water waste goes, not into any streams or water courses.
my grandad kept "secret" pigs in a shed at his house [not on the farm] after the war when all animals were recorded and strictly governed...;) it was a case of 1 for me and *** for them..:rotfl:neighbours who knew kept stuum cos they got bacon/ham cheap
he told me when his working springer got preggy by a random male and had wot looked likespringer pups, so he sold em as such as working dogs demanded premium £'s...can picture him now chortling away saying " chr*st knows wot they turned out like" :rotfl::rotfl:
now you know where i get it from...:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

You are quite close to a suburban-type residential area with reasonably 'posh' properties, so this is more or less inevitable.
To many people pigs = rats + smell. While there's something in the first idea, which relates to just about any animal-keeping where food is left around, the latter is only true of big units and could equally apply to poultry or other animals too.
There's a poultry farm on the way to Tiverton, which we always smell before we see it. Maybe lir will know the pig unit on the B3109 at Bradford Leigh (just outside Bradford on Avon) which used to make me feel ill just passing it in the car. These sort of places stick in the mind and colour judgement!
I expect things will settle down when the piggies arrive and folks get to see that they are few in number and really quite appealing. You never know, a few folk might brinmg them treats, which could help on the food front!0 -
I do not know said pig place, but will make a point of keeping an eye out andnose well covered.
All ok here, basically have slept for days and days with brief wake ups.
Planning to do the same for a bit longer.0 -
CTC.... tell the nosey neighbours that you thought piggies less hassle than a motorbike testing area....;) they will luuuurrv your piggies..:rotfl::rotfl:
and they do not smell... only bad husbandry smells...
LIR.... how did monday go ?? and did you eat all the cake...;)

ive sprayed the sheep again today, im now paranoid !
farrier did 5 out of 6 mini's today. so iv had a strange mixed day.
my doves here are getting so tame they are sitting waiting for me every morning and night now [im sure its me and not the food !;) ]

We'll have no Cockney rhyming slang in here! :rotfl:0 -
Agreed, it's pretty bad that you have to wait so long to see a neurologist, lir. No jokes about old-ologists either, because it just isn't funny.:(
Put Peccadilly Circus up again today inside the main hen run, so babies got their first taste of (almost) freedom. They loved it, and Mum finally began to relax too. Other hens will get to see them, which should help integration later.:)
Misty & murky here most of the day with odd brighter interludes, but we've finished the benching in the polytunnel over the last two days. We decided we didn't like the bench rolling backwards & forwards although it was perfectly safe, so we fixed the 20' scaffolding poles it rests on so they won't move. There's about 15m2 under the bench for storage too, which is great.
However did we get those 20' poles here in a van with only 11' of load space? :eek:0 -
