ooo things have changed ! my grandad was a pig farmer/butcher and when i was younger ;) i remember him boiling up what looked like a better "stew" than my school one for his pigs..

For a while, my Dad was a fishmonger. Every night when we locked up the shop, the bucket of bones and skin + past its sell-by fish went to a man called Bill Brown who'd boil it up in the same way. :)

Bill's pigs were in a most convenient spot, right next door to the livestock market! ;)

Yes, there were many worse places to choose, but it was partially luck of the draw and other non-economic considerations which brought us here. 'Strategic' seems too organised for our decision-making! :rotfl:

To be honest, I'm happy enough if we have to go with with a more modest Plan B. Yes, I'd love the view we'd get with an upstairs, but there are other, cheaper things we might do which would give equal pleasure, and those might well be lost to fund the grander plan. Energy saving or generating, for example.

    Oh....and a really nice shed! ;)

    :T:T NO home is a home without a SHED !! I WOULD HAVE A HUNDRED IF I COULD :rotfl::rotfl:

I mean quite a large prefabricated building of some kind that will act as a buffer zone between the house and 'out there.'

At present we have a large conservatory thing performing that role, but it's awful, cannot be redeemed and must be pulled down, even though it's less than ten years old.:(

Every smallholding needs somewhere for all those grubby clothes, boots, poultry feeders and general 'stuff' that just accumulates....and in an ideal world, it shouldn't be in the house itself. :)

    lol.....sheds.......

our unit is 10,000 sft, and we use that like a giant shed:D

we have no room for stuff in or around the houses now, so work is our storage place now, and there is no room there either:cool::D

I am all excited now, I am going to a 'proper' farm market..

even though we are not looking to buy today, I am taking my holding number 'just in case';):p

The June sale results showed the weaners went anything from £1 to £20..so i am going to have to make sure i dont buy the real runts for a £1... as i know i will feel sorry for them:o

Been trying to look for my gortex army coat ready for next week, which have seem to have gone walkabouts..... as they are one of the best waterproofs i have owned..,and I know they dont come into work very often, so no chance of getting some by next week, if i dont find them

Isn't brush-cutting Mabel a bit severe alfie?

We've been putting up the staging we bought in December 2010 inside the polytunnel....or trying to. :o

When we purchased it, I took some photos of another one, so that we'd know how it went together. Sadly, when my computer went 'Bleugh!' in May and I had to grab the photos from it before it expired, one month was left out....December 2010!!!:mad::mad:
No matter. We've made up a 20' run now, which means we still have enough stuff to do another 40', but as it's 2 metres wide, I don't think we'll need any more. The whole surface moves sideways about 3' on rollers, so it can go up against a side or be rolled away for access.

In the tunnel, our fast tomatoes are coming to an end and look pretty ropey, but others are ready to take over. The Ukraine Purple don't really look like they'll be more than dark pink, but they sure look interesting!

Ours is being repaired alfie. We are up to armpits in weeds in some places.

Today i woke up,did critters went back to sleep. Been asleep most of the day. Took dh to where we were meant to be this evening so he can have a drink or two, then came home myself and hoping i stay awake to pick him up later before coming home to sleep again.

Hoping i wake up early enough in the morning to bake. ;)
