I want to add some extra wire to my chicken run and don't have a staple gun that uses thick enough staples to make it secure.
Does anyone have any advice about this? I don't know what to get, there is a bewildering amount out there, I want something that fires heavy duty staples, that suit holding wire mesh outside.
I am no expert, before we had a staple gun we used to use something like these ( used to gt them in boxes of nails etc at the farm auctions for bargin prices..lol..)

these come in diff sizes..... and cheap :rotfl:
I think I might end up doing it by hand, but a gun would be handy to have around. I have manual hand guns, but they only fire smaller staples, not heavier ones I'd like.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Lotus....heavy duty staple guns are good, and are a type of tool that, you dont realise you need one, until you do:rotfl:
When i bought a industrial material cutter for work, there was rolls of leatherette, and 2 stanley heavy duty staple guns...
If you honestly think you will have use for it in the future, then it will be worth the investment, BUT... if not then those staple type nails are good, the only drawback, it does take longer.. and you could hit your thumb with the hammer:DWork to live= not live to work0 -

Hello, just popping in, having gone AWOL yesterday to attend a meeting with the residents' group who want to buy our old nursery garden. It wasn't a great day.
For a start, the car wouldn't, so we had to go by 3.5 tonne van, which can't get into the Park & Rides. On the positive side, however, there was one space in our old road, right outside the house of the woman with the plastic donkey, so I took great joy in removing her sunshine for half the afternoon. Many's the time when I wanted to remove the donkey....but I digress....;)
As expected, tea & cake soon gave way to business, but it seemed that we were being assailed from all sides in uncomfortable ways. One pair wailed that they couldn't afford more than £x, while another guy when I explained something came back with, "Well that's not true, is it?" I'd not met him before and once was more than enough. Another complained that someone else was getting a better deal....etc etc. In the end, I'm afraid I lost it a bit and said I wasn't there to be Mr Popular, that we'd sell it to whoever offered us the most, or perhaps no one, thanks for the cake and goodbye....:o
"Ah, but we're so close to a deal."
"No we're not!"
Having slept on it, I've had a re-think. Just sent them an email, saying exactly the same again, only nicely. :rotfl:
Alf, I'm sure you've considered preloved? http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.listadverts/sec-Home%20and%20Family/cat-Pets%20and%20Livestock/subcat-Horses%20and%20Accessories/keyword-saddles/3352644e.html0 -

Nah, we don't fight dirty and we're only talking gardens. They're not evil people....just different from us.
Unfortunately, the idea of spending, say, £10k on a swish kitchen that will depreciate seems perfectly rational to them, while the same people baulk at spending to gain a back entrance and treble the length of their garden. All I get is, "It will make us vulnerable and we've got kids."
"Er, you'd have a 6' gate and there's another locked 6' gate beyond that and your kids might like more than 12' of play space. "
Their houses are like Fort Knox at the back and impossible to reach by anyone who's not a member of the SAS, but this was something I'd not allowed for; non risk-takers who'd rather take bikes, dustbins etc through the house.
They look at the concrete and say "What do we do with this bit?"
I reply, "Well, I was your age when I laid it, so how about you un-lay it?"
Shocked looks! These are strapping guys twice my size. We've already taken out as much stuff as that and brought it to Devon!:rotfl:
Tis too complex to put here, but we still have options, fortunately.0 -
DAVE.......... is there possibility of planning on said piece of land ? this commitee of prospective buyers wouldnt be trying to group buy just to sell on for profit ?? prob not or youde have done it already !!:D is it worth putting to auction with a reserve or does that cost too much if its not sold ?
re saddle saga....;) i am going to get new so there is at least a warranty and i know it will not have been mistreated.
i saw a guy accidentally staple his hand with a staple gun...
i use good old hammer . i never sink the staples totally so i can get em out if need be. but then im just tight and recycle/change my mind all the time0 -

Careful about car park meets. You should be safe in a pub one though.
My friend once chose to pick up an eBay gearbox from a car park just off the M4, noted for...er....other activities...Had some interesting encounters before the right guy showed! :rotfl:0
