£460 .....!!! id want it jewel encrusted for that !!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I know its a lot. I am quite fussy about saddle fit, and that often means a bit more money. People usually don't understand, and then ask why special girl looks good in her twenties and why old girl is alive entering her forties:o. Some things are worth paying for, even if you have to wait imo.
I had a google for second hand inkies, and found none.....i guess poeple hang on to them:(.0 -
if its for a real horsey family child whos expecting to go on to greater things or at least ride regularly ,i can understand the need BUT this is for a 2yr old that will probably have no interest after a year ! only going to walk around the grounds ...IF she did show any potential/enthusiasm then that would prob mean a little welsh pony poss and good fitted saddlery

Don't leap on me, alfie, ........... but many of the little country-born kids around here used to ride small ponies bareback.
It seems to give them a better feel for a horse & many go on to be very accomplished with horses.0 -

Yes, i would certainly go with that. My youngest neice preferred bareback, and it was easier to go with that when younger, and we too were struggling to find a saddle i liked we could afford. She rides very nicely now.
A neck strap is a decent addition, but, pretty soon they are balancing really well and not needing it.
The saddle fit fuss from me is really for the pony, not the kid . Carrying something light is fine, but something light that digs in is really horrid. We see muscle wastage as the correct shape often enough.0 -

Yes, I realised you were talking about the fit for the pony. I think I'd be loathe to spend the money on a saddle until a child was of a size (& showing real interest) to merit it....... but then I can be extremely tight :rotfl:0 -
this is my friends ONLY grandaughter and as LIR knows she has had enough trauma to last her and as its me that will be walking with little girl [and prob her mum] i cant take chances so whilst i agree with the bareback method of learning [as i did] i personally would rather onlooking relatives were not too nervous !! when /if she feels confident then i would happily teach her a bit by bareback when shes a bit older.
p.s also we can rotate between 4 mini;s and theses saddles are light weight, treeless and with a padded numnah im sure will be fine0 -
Hehehe - You see ........ I thought that was what you were probably thinking which is why I said don't leap on me.
That was more a sort of lollop than a leap

Hello, just popping in, having gone AWOL yesterday to attend a meeting with the residents' group who want to buy our old nursery garden. It wasn't a great day.
For a start, the car wouldn't, so we had to go by 3.5 tonne van, which can't get into the Park & Rides. On the positive side, however, there was one space in our old road, right outside the house of the woman with the plastic donkey, so I took great joy in removing her sunshine for half the afternoon. Many's the time when I wanted to remove the donkey....but I digress....;)
As expected, tea & cake soon gave way to business, but it seemed that we were being assailed from all sides in uncomfortable ways. One pair wailed that they couldn't afford more than £x, while another guy when I explained something came back with, "Well that's not true, is it?" I'd not met him before and once was more than enough. Another complained that someone else was getting a better deal....etc etc. In the end, I'm afraid I lost it a bit and said I wasn't there to be Mr Popular, that we'd sell it to whoever offered us the most, or perhaps no one, thanks for the cake and goodbye....:o
"Ah, but we're so close to a deal."
"No we're not!"
Having slept on it, I've had a re-think. Just sent them an email, saying exactly the same again, only nicely. :rotfl:0 -
good on you Davesnave...
dont be 'bullied' into giving into them...
to the person who said they only got x money and cant afford anymore .... well tuff boobies... that is the story of my life..:o
I would now up the price:D
would there be anything you could do with the land to REALLY get their backs up? building plot? ( sorry cant remember if i have asked this before)Work to live= not live to work0 -
I need some advice.
I want to add some extra wire to my chicken run and don't have a staple gun that uses thick enough staples to make it secure.
Does anyone have any advice about this? I don't know what to get, there is a bewildering amount out there, I want something that fires heavy duty staples, that suit holding wire mesh outside.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
