Nice fireplace Alfie.
It's a lovely starry evening & there's moths out there. I feel all wanderlusty...........
admitadly not at this time of year but in the warmer weather i often walk to the shore [bird /reserve] down my lane and sit with a flask of tea and watch the sunset... all the birds come in to roost and all the lights on the IOW come on all twinkly and usually a mass of stars....wonderfull
as i have no near street lights and no disturbing lights the stars above me on a good night are stunning. i often stand outside looking up and end up with a crick in my neck...:rotfl:0 -
I only feel like wandering as far as bed tonight!
Temps have dropped, so wonder what cloudcover is doing. Its meant to be wet here for the weekend, but it feels as if the cloud will have cleared will check in a bit.
Saw the bloody rat in the feed room tonight. The dogs showed distinct lack of hunting instinct by RUNNING Away. Idiots. I also heard scrabbling in the automatic feeders, so i am guessing we have become rat ridden. Yuck yuck shudder.
The exbatt with no sight in one eye made it out acroos the field to day, she is quite aggressive. I think she Might be naming herself attila the hen. Mean while the darling little bold one is just a doll. She is getting the very ordinary name of cheeky. She follows me around the yard like a little doggy, chatting and then sits happily undermy arm like a cat.0 -
Yes, wet & then cold again - frosts back.
I need cheering up.0 -

It seems to have gone pretty chilly but lovely out there.
I cleaned the fridge out in the shed - It was disgusting. That's the thing with living like this everything seems to get filthy & not properly attended to & I seem to be drowning in clutter. I think my back ache is half down to spending so much time sitting. Can't really do much else when indoors - really glad to see longer days.0 -

The rats in my greenhouse totally ignored the homemade bait and still refuse to go in any traps, no matter what bait or where I put them.
They do however wait till a rat trap catches a mouse, then eat the half sticking out of the trap.
I'm surprised how many mice we had in the garden tbh, must have caught 15 in the GH and that's after catching 20 in the house/shed/garage in the autumn.
And I did try half a mouse in a trap, didn't work. I can't believe how clever these rats are
In other news, my tomatoes and chillies are all sown, the chicken run is put together and creocoted, just need to staple on alot of weldmesh to protect it from badgers (hopefully) and change a few bits which weren't very well designed.
But we pick up our new chucks on Sunday, only getting 3 now, all hybrids.
A coral (white eggs), a columbine (80% chance of blue eggs) and a copper black (brown eggs).
At least I will be able to tell who laid what
A total of £55 for the 3, which was by far the best price I could find round here for decent hens that had been vaccinated etc.
The columbine is an interesting read if you search for it, didn't know about it before.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
LIR....im going to let bimble loose in your shed ,he will seriously love it, he can find a rat where you least think it could be.... kills it in seconds then looks for the next [never plays with it] he gives a funny little yip when hes killed one to let me know !0

Lets face it, if anyone can find an unwanted plough horse, it has to be you
