    Oh alfie! Thats shocking.

Text me your postal address please ( pm box full) or get you son to. Either mobile.

Medical care gets worse and worse. I have been on the hone since shortly after nine to discover my referral letter has gone missing, my 'urgent' rescan is likely to be in three weeks ir more and the soonest Private appt i can get is the end of the month.

My gp surgery have advised me to cease pain relief cocktail, and spend the day in a and e so they HAVE to scan me then and there. Seems puerile and dangerous to me, so i will wait.

Lir, your wait doesnt sound at all acceptable, nor does Alf's, but I'm not sure overall that things are getting worse

I recall going to Gt Ancoats as a child of 12, having fallen into a Baby Burco boiler and being badly scalded and in shock. 3 1/2 hours later I was finally assessed. I had blisters the size of balloons on my arms and the pain was severe.

I've sat beside my son, twice when he was on the cusp of life and death, and realised that at times the medical profession doesnt know it all as they were very non committal about his survival chances. Having said that, I'm supremely proud of the same son overcoming disability and illness to hack through 5 years of medical college and who is now a very hard working A&E doctor in New Zealand.

Generally I've been pretty happy with our local health care, if I've a big gripe its ambulance response times, where Vale ambulances can get called into Cardiff causing waits for rural emergencies

Well, worse of course cmpares partly i suppose to my experiences elsewhere as a kid.

But my sister arrived with my mom here in the sixties, and her care was GOOD, basic, and different but good. That said my mother hated giving birth in uk and was horrified.

The nhs almost let my die ten years ago, and so far i don't think things are that bad so maybe you are right. Ater the whole day on the phone i found out the referral letter has gone missing (from one dept to another ion the same building last week) but, i have to admit relief that dh's breakthroughs are btter, his work bupa are going to cover me, depsite us presuming they would not as all of my previous exclusions are relevant, but also, they are agreeing to make the referral based on a non buba registered consultants letter. The nhs consultant who saw me last week could not have been kinder and harder working. So that does say something good.
