flipping eck Alfie you dont half find the bargins:T:T:T

lets hope you can sell the lot and make some good dosh...

right how many of you lot are watching my coat?????:D as i have got quite a few watchers allready..

plus my nylon stuff seems to have attracted some admirers too....

After the excitment of saving/borrowing and buying the new place....and then realising how much work and money it is going to cost to make habitable....the dread/ panic set in, in thinking i have made the biggest mistake of my life...
as the daydream and turned out to be ( for me anyway) a nightmare...

Now i have been through every emotion before and after buying the place......it is back to reality again..... and now it will be like starting all over again..... SAVE....EARN....SAVE...SAVE...SAVE... ready for phase 2 of the dream....

I must admit i expected once that hammer went down in the auction... for all my dreams and ideas to be come together within a matter of weeks/days/minutes/seconds:cool::D

I am soooooooooo glad that i contacted the person on fleabay to see if they wanted to buy stuff off me, as her energy etc gave me my 'umf' back, as i had got in such a blinkered rutt with everything... plus the meeting with rhiwie made me think ..and i was answering my own questions in my train of thougths...

ITs must be working, as i made sandwiches for myself and hubby yesturday... for me for work, and hubby for when he was out and about in the car for me....

so for all you lurkers........we all must be bonkers:rotfl::T

I'm trying not to be, but it's very hard to get it right. :o

The problem with a smallholding is that it doesn't make a great retirement project, unless you're into animals. Chickens apart, I'm not......and we don't really need over 5 acres to do chickens!

So, we have about 4.5 acres here we don't really need, which would be OK if there weren't other drains on our resources of both time and money. All the time, we're looking at that point somewhere in the nearish future when the house will be done, the land will be tamed and.......

..... maybe we'll both be too old to enjoy it.... and skint!! :(

I say this, because a nearby agriculturally-tied property hasn't sold after about two years on the market. It's been extended considerably, so its owners probably think that ought to be reflected in the price, but they're not getting what they want. It does have another issue, and a stricter tie than ours, but it's given me pause for thought.

Faced with a no sale, the owners applied for the tie to be lifted, but that's been turned-down, both at parish and county level. Quite rightly, the view is that they chose to put that amount of investment in, and it's not anyone else's fault if they can't re-coup.

So, sensible hat on here ATM, before our planning application is decided! :A

I forgot to mention one benefit of having a smallholding, which might be overlooked with all this money stuff....

Yesterday, the scales showed I now weigh exactly 1 stone less than when we took over this place! :j

    I've been Money Tipped!
One: i have definitely put on weight, and a lot of it. Doing as little as possible when its freezing and fighting my weight gaining illnesses, its just no fun. Of course, that makes the physical issues i have worse, and the doing stuff harder.....its stupid.

Dave, with the facilities you have with stables and the land why do you not let it to a horse owner or take a couple of diy liveries? (the latter would give you more income and control' insurance costs need to be considered though)

I know exactly where you're coming from on that as I'm pretty limited in a lot of what I can now do by comparison with how I was just a few years ago.
It becomes a vicious circle. I've got rid of most of the weight I put on following the enforced slowing down but am nowhere near as fit as I once was or as I would like to be. That won't alter while we live here, unfortunately.

Old age catches up slowly but health problems can strike swiftly & we none of us know who it will hit or when.
That's why it's important to go for your dreams while you can but remember that the dreams will very probably change in time.
