Carpets :rotfl::rotfl:
We know ours are at least thirty five years old.(apart from one, which i am guessing is left over from meeting rooms or registery office redo;))
What idiot of a farmer would choose pale pink, now faded to cream, for his sitting room when there is no corridor. Years of farmers boots goingthrough make it yuckity yuck. The star carpet is the colour of algae and mould, and our bedroom is dark red.0 -

Knowing most farmers, the pink carpet was probably the same carpet as in your bedroom. LIR, but has 'benefited' from years of scrubbing
When we first came there was a plain red carpet throughout the house. That went, although we lived with it for a while - sneezing & wheezing every time I had to hoover. Now upstairs is all wood & downstairs either flags, slates or brick.0 -

Haha, that would be funny. The pink one is avtually dirty cream, we only know it was pink fropm areas that were shaded under furniture. When i had furniture in odd places this week a friend came in and was shocked and said, she had always thought our carpet was meant to be cream not realised is was faded dirty pink.
It reminds me of that pinky beige colour of the beards of white dogs who dribble on their beards.0 -
Its even colder tonight and the stupid wood burner will not light and the stupid rope is coming off it AGAiN.
We wanted open fires through out and i have learnt my lesson with reclaimed woodburners, but i am thinking of a wood burner for the new study. I would love to find a little stove with an oven but think thats unlikely, its not a huge space.0 -
re rope around woodburners. Egg white dribbled into the groove often works as a quick tempory "glue" for the rope. push the rope into its place quickly and the heat of the fire sets it in place.
Also if you have any empty plastic milk bottles use it they are great fire lighters [ tip from someone on this board apparently they are ok to burn environment wise]. Stuff a bit of paper and a stick in the neck and place ontop of a few sticks. put more wood on top. they burn for a wee while like crazy and things catch light off them.
Hope this helps.0 -

You could always have a masonry stove & oven built to fit, LIR.0 -

Wow, will try eggwhite to orrow. It cannot be worse than the rope glue.
I cannot tell you how much i hate our woodburner. :mad:
I did manage to light it in the end and in fair ness to it, we have warmed up now, but i still cannot wait to rip it out and have a real fire back.0
