Half of them were inherited and the rest are to deal with things that have developed since, like the polytunnel and the chicken run.

We have many fewer pots than we did a year ago. Still hundreds though! :rotfl:

Well, its part of why we simply could not have coped with more pots than we have...in fact, have not coped with some of them :(

My stupid back is kaput this morning, luckily last night i left the back door open for the doglets so, i could take my time getting down stairs.

didnt get the rain that they said we were going to have last night:mad:

We'll see if it comes along today..

Also seriously need to think about generating some sort of income from the new place....so we can start putting the basics into place ready to see some cash coming in next year....

The thing is I dont want to get carried away, with loads of potential ideas, I really do need to take my time to research/test the water so to speak. and see what over land owners in the area are NOT doing;)

Hope everyone has a cooler day today

Not yet, on fact i will phone them tomorrow. Her antibiotics finished today. She is not herself, i don't imagine she'll go galloping again ever, but the light in her eyes is back on, and she bellows for supper, so she is not ready to go yet. It is all quite time consuming though, i am poppilng out to check on her every hour or so, and am giving her lots and lots of small feeds, grass nuts mainly.

I am under no illusion she is going to recover, she is not. But nor is she ready to give in yet, and until she is i am not. :o.

    HIYA BILLY-NO-MATES :rotfl::rotfl:

    AND EVENING ALL.

i hope you have all /still are enjoying the weather albeit ive had to water the garden most days...:o

i filled up mabels waterbutt by running the hose over the road [funny that cars slow down for it as if its a speed camera ..:rotfl::rotfl: ] .it saves me carrying buckets ! i filled her two big metal drinking tubs in her pen and she shunted them carefully across 6-8ft and then tipped them into her wallow hole..... i filled them again and moved them further away and she did the same.... without spilling any !!!
i filled her wallow with the hose and she waited then literally threw herself sideways into it ...:D and slid in and slid out of the hole like a surfer...:rotfl::rotfl: she looked like the monster from the lagoon ...
she does make me laugh !:D

ive actually been a tad poorly for the last 3 days. blinding headache and exhaustion. if i sit down i doze off and then wake with a start 1 hour later  putting it down to the air pressure ;) i think iv been over doing it a bit, hope to slow down at the weekend.

got in today and my son had paid the water rates for me !:T bless him.....

iv just put a few bits on the bay tonite but lost patience [with myself :o ]

hope old horse is doing ok LIR. thinking of you xx

WOW alfie...... she is amazing.....do you think she could calm 2 teenage boys to be nice and polite, and do what they are told too:rotfl:

loved the way Ruby was nibbling her ear:D

was trying to get peas for sowing yesturday, seems all the local shops had sold out, so will have to go to b&q to see if they have any there, if not will have to order on-line

I got bitten by midges/knats on the weekend, and they are still flipping itching, been using sudcreme but not working, I dont normally suffer, or get bitten that much, but they seemed to like me up the new place... any ideas on what i can use to sooth/take away the itch? Got one right on one of my toes....

Alf, take care now. Lovely Youtube of Ruby.

Dave, do you have a master stopcock (!) to isolate all your outdoor taps? Sounds like it could be a bit of a nightmare if you get a leak. How does the metering work or are you on RV?

Well, took the decision to get someone in to do a bit of heavy work in the garden. Clear the old summer raspberry bed, put in new soil and put in autumn raspberries. And clear a couple of other beds before using an old dpm as weed suppressant. That way my back should hold out doing the lighter work.

Although the tree fruit looks iffy in patches where the frost and cold weather cut pollination, the soft fruit looks set for a bumper harvest. Welcome rain due this weekend, just a pity it will affect local jubilee celebrations

Sorry. :o I'm around on & off, but just very busy getting stuff done before the weather breaks, which it's bound to do at the Jubilee.:(

Yesterday, fitting the last 'skirting boards' to the inside of the polytunnel, it didn't feel very cool and my humidity meter went up by 30% over the day, so it was no wonder I was sweating. Glad to have that sorted so that we can get the floor really level and move-in properly.

Ozzie had a go at DW yesterday, who was removing some broodies to the boredom box at the time, but as lir said elsewhere, he was only doing his job. Wish he'd see off the crows in the same way. The hens now have to pass through a pair of curtains at each end of the shelter to reach their food; something they don't mind too much. The crows won't pass! ;)

DW has been planting up some real garden and I have stuck some eucalyptus in as temporary light relief in front of next door's ailing leylandii hedge. For plants that come from a dry climate, they don't half drink! It was either that or bin them, as they'd outgrown their pots.

Go stready alfie.... and anyone else who's been tempted to do too much by the weather.

I have my eye on this ATM:

Do you think it would cut the orchard? :)

Edit: Just read the new posts. Yes, we do have a seperate stopcock for the outdoor area and we're not on a meter. We would know if there were leaks of any size, but all the pipework is relatively recent poly stuff, so should be OK.
If we did go to a meter, I would ask for a separate agricultural branch at ag rates.
