Hi all, it's been a while but I think I'm caught up on your exploits. As I had a month's worth of posts to read, I hope you don't mind but I haven't gone through and thanked you all like I feel I should because of the information and entertainment and support that there is on this thread!
So instead, a very big thanks! You are all wonderful people - knowledgeable, kind, wise and fun. :A
Update on us:
We're staying put for now. DH wants me to clear my credit card (which makes sense and I'm doing it as fast as I can). We had a week in the Canaries at the beginning of the month but didn't view any properties. Then, my first day back to work, a lorry hit my car on the way home and damn near wrote it off. It's not back from the garage yet, it's due back 6th June at the moment. In the meantime I have a snazzy 61 plate car to drive around, and a physiotherapist and medical exam to attend.
Oh and we have a new cat, we collected him last weekend and he's settled in brilliantly :jIt's so lovely having a cat again, he's a really friendly soul."...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
Having cats makes a huge difference imo. My cats are my veritable familiarts without a doubt.
Hot here, hottest day yet, the heat drove us in.
Alfie, cotton eye jojo has hatched two of your eggs today, not the silkies, but a black chick froM a speckledy egg and a yellow chick fro
M a tinted egg. I am sure one of the silkie eggs is cheeping. The black one is going to be trouble, its already wriggling away from jojo, and getting noisy when she tries to pull it back to her.
Old girl still here, on antibiotics just in case and had an emergency visit from dentist also just in case. She has perked up quite a lot and is enjoying two feeds a day instead of one.0 -
Aaaaaarrrgggghhhh
I decided in all my wisdom that paining the latticed metal swing seat would be a good idea as it was preloved and has been looking decidedly past its prime. However I did not plan on it being so frustrating! Painting the lattice work is horrendously fiddly and it is nigh on impossible not to drip paint!
Why oh why did I not just take a blanket and a good book out instead?????Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Good news, lir.
No great heat here, but after yesterday, I don't mind a calmer, cloudier environment to work in.0 -

Well, its a postponement of the inevitable. In fact after typing that i gave her a shower and she had 'a funny turn' but while dialling the vet she recovered.....its going to be anyday really, but the light is back on in her eyes, so i am hopeful it might be on her terms. Its difficult to say i was eased when i thought she was going earlier, because it would be how she would choose, and its on a relative high, but also, partly, because it would have taken the decision from me, a terrible admission i know. In anycase, she has another three days on antibiotics at which point is the next time to take stock if she has not resolved it herself. She is back to ulling faces and whinneying like mad when she sees a bucket, or bellowing when her best friend goes out of sight, so i am not ready to say 'now' but i am poised to say it very, very soon. I know, in the best case scenario, she would not make winter unless we have a miracle.0 -

It would be lovely for her to enjoy a warm and relaxing summer. When it comes down to it though you will know when she is ready to move on and I know you will make the best decision for her.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

I think it would be lovely if we all could experience that.
The last couple of months have been so much better here, with less wind and no canine noises to speak of either. It's like we have a different smallholding.
By the way, the Parish Council raised no objection to our plans when it met last Thursday. No doubt we shall have the man out to inspect the foundations next. I bet he'll say he needs another 1.5m hole dug!
Donations from our plant clearance raised £102 for the Village Hall fund. I still think we hung onto too much stock, so I've been quietly doing-away with a few!0
