Sorry to hear that LIR, she may just be wilting due to the heat and may perk up when the evening cools down.

She did perk up a bit when i gave her a bath, but you cannot fight age forever, :(. I would rather she go before she is wretched......but today she looks wretched.

LIR.... this is soooooooo hard.... some times you have to be cruel to be kind...I have seen it with old dogs... ( in my dog grooming days) lumps, bumps, bad teeth, which comes with old age, BUT.... when they are weeping and you can see the dog is suffering, they were even telling me they were carrying their dogs outside to go to the toilet, as the dog couldnt physically do it...

You will know in your head when the time comes, but then the heart kicks in...:o

Hopefully its the weather, and when it cools down a bit, there will be more of an improvement...

Rhiwie.... Taken on board loads of things you said on monday...I have broken down my running costs to a daily amount:eek: I worked it out on a 5 day working week, and taken off the bank holidays.. which comes to 252 working days a year...

We have also had a few inquires regarding stuff we could sell ( instead of putting it into the rubbish;)) so i have a few people coming down next week....

I also gave someone their notice:o they finish tomorrow....:o

right off to water me plants, now that i have had my cuppa...:D

Lir, I had to Wiki to see average lifespan for horses is 25-30 years. You must have looked after her really well.

Alf, will pack and send lucky bag tomorrow. Sold a watch today for £30 (and maybe should have held out for more) that was bottom of a box at the last auction.

CTC, really hope it goes well for you. Never nice laying off people, but at the end of the day you're running a business, not a charity.

Eclectic buys today? Carp auction but got a WWII cape, rusty tin helmet, camo combat smock, woodworking planes and a 50s (?) heavy blue serge (red piping) ladies GPO uniform top and trousers. You'd need to be a weightlifter to wear it, they sure made women tough in them days :D

Believe it or not old horse has had a hugely adventurous life, and not always a nice one. If there were a horsey jackie collins or similar she would be a heroine in that novel. She was born on another continent, worked a hard and damaging career, was neglected by someone, then got saved. She doesn't like people much, they have given her little reaon to trust them. She loved to chase a ball sometimes, she was a polo pony, so we roll apples for her sometimes.

The vet is going to drop in tomorrow. I am positive its her heart....and its worked bloody hard. We will see what he thinks. Today her eyes looked dull, and i thought....no, i will not do this to you. She has always been a wild, and feisty woman of a horse...even when her body looked knackered she still galloped and ruled the herd. She no longer is lead mare, but they respect her as dowager, and she ranks second. Pretty impressive for her age and size.
