Having a back rest (endeavouring not to end the day as a replica set square :rotfl:) while DH sharpens the shears for me.

Hmmm, letter from the council this morning regarding the static sited in possible contravention of planning regs. Wonder how they were alerted to that? It's not though ;)

If it can be seen from the road then it could have been anyone. If not, then it's someone who knows. Either way, if it's compliant then, s*d 'em :D

Compiling a list of things in my head to do when the weather is !!!!!!, so as not to waste beautiful weather like this. I am learning.... :D

Sadly, moving cannot be timed so well.

Yep, pays to be organised, rozee. Always try to give yourself at least one good weather day to enjoy if possible. Sometimes there just aren't enough of them to allow it but always try :D

You're a long time dead & you can't take it with you.
It's very easy for it all to become a long round of all work with no play. Either that, or things go backwards at a faster rate than one can get things done which is what usually happens.
It's not that things ever reach perfection. You'd need to be back in the days of an army of gardeners to get to that stage ...... & that probably goes for anywhere with more than an acre or two which isn't completely sit-on-&-mow grass.

Luckily perfection isn't my style. I'm more respectably tidy ;) but if there's changeable weather it can be particularly hard to keep up.
One can end up feeling guilty for taking a few hours to do something one wants to do, which is silly really but that's the way it goes.
Life should not be about a long list of to-dos but it can be hard for it not to seem that way sometimes. So organised is good & tends to cut down on wasted time

Tomorrow is going to be bath horse day. Try and get thje last bits of coat off the old gals then drench them in fly spray. Today has been lie in the garden with the dogs and read a book day. I have finally defrosted.....my bones are warming up and the dogs are happily dozing in the long grass in the dappled shade. Big dog normally hates the sun, feeling the heat easily, but even she seems pleased to be put, albeit in the shade...where of course is where i am happier they are sleeping.

Edit: though that sounds lazy, we did weed like stink yesterday and i promised myself a relax day when we got heat. I feel a different person today.....reduced pain, more energy, and just....not freezing.

Oh, go on...... be lazy. What the heck's the harm in one lazy day :D
There are no medals for killing ourselves by working more than is needed.

There's a never ending list of things to do. I always think "things will calm down after [insert appropriate event]". I've not been right yet :D

Can't wait to be up on the hill though. And I'm sure things will calm down after we've moved :rotfl:

I think you'll find that things just alter ;):D It's a bit like parenting - the problems don't stop they just change.

Well, the May is finally trying to bloom; the ash is at the tiny lime green buds stage; the sycamores are out as are the oaks (oak before ash in for a splash); the lambs are finally out playing together; the swallows, who must have been roosted up in the outbuildings feeling miserable as sin & wishing they'd stayed in S Africa, are bombing around - many less than last year, though, we're normally inundated; the rabbits seem to have spent all the lousy weather multiplying at an even faster rate than normal - like ruddy Watership Down ......... & the Pineapple Mint is alive & about 4" tall :rotfl:
It's a good job you didn't wait for mine, CTC(?)

It will soon be time for red deer to calve. We usually have at least one calf born in our top field. Mum tucks it away among the longer grass or gorse & disappears all day coming back to it at dusk :D

No that's next year, when we don't have a house to live in. :p

Anyway, if you can have a horse whisperer, I can be a tomato whisperer. Every morning, I go down there and whisper "Come on, you b*gg*rs!" ;)

Planning application's in.:j I seriously doubt that we'll be able to afford the build we've gone for, but nothing ventured & all that....We are both pragmatic enough to take it on the chin if we need to go for Plan B.

    I've been Money Tipped!
So, things are starting to happen. I just found out my housewarming gift of a security system and cctv is going aheas, and they are coming to survey at the end of the week.

We finally worked out how to turn on one of the mystery floodlights at the weekend, so finally getting the place a little more secure it seems.

Having decided i must cut this lawn in this weather i have called a lawnmower repair person to come and see it tomorrow. On the plus side, not uctting the grass for a few weeks...was only three weeks ago i think, maybe four!, has revealed a glade of tiny horse chestnut trees so will pot them up before cutting the grass......something for the hedgerows. :)

SORRY !! my warped sense of humour .....

well yesterday the woman who came to see RUBY was just amazing. she was so calm and confident and quietly won her round. i was sat in the next field watching and zooming my camera. i must admit i was a bit sceptical but thought i will try anything. im sure there are [and iv met some!] who claim to be a horse whisperer and are cr*pdedooda..... she lives in an old bus next to her horses. she has a stunning black arab stallion since a foal. i will put her link on here , she has a clip of her horse. as she says she hasnt a computer but a friend set up a website for her... she was absolutely barking but beautifull barking... at one point she sat in with ruby playing an american indian flute [i thought ...this is it ,she's off the radar now !!] all the ponies just stopped what they were doing in the next field and just listened..ruby was just gaga. i burst into tears when she just stood up and wrapped her arms around her and gently stroked her face and layed her head on her shoulder.... then i remembered to grab the camera quick !! she's coming back again and going to work with her for me. gonna cost but worth it i think. she rides her stallion bitless and usually saddle less too. she was lovely and i was VERY impressed.
