LIR and Alfie, hope you had a fun day today!
Another gorgeous sunny day here so we spent another afternoon in the garden. The creeping buttercups are everywhere, there must be thousands of them all through the beds and the grass. My new gardening gadget is great at ripping them out but the numbers are overwhelming.
We topped up the raised beds and finally got the asparagus planted, which is a weight off my mind as the box has been sitting in my kitchen making me feel guilty. It was lovely using our own compost again, my OH never ceases to be delighted at the start of each growing season to see he has made soil!
It is now raining quite heavily which is great as the garden was starting to look dry and it saves me having to go out and water it. There is still so much to plant and organise but I am definitely on track!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Glad to see you two had a great time yesterday, on what was even a passable day, weatherwise.
That's a very tropical lily pad that dog dog is standing on, and are you sure there were no monkeys? There's something hairy in the bottom right of the frame!:D
I'd love a lake or pond here, but without weather like this all the time, it wouldn't be likely. In a previous life, I used to fish on some of the ponds around lir's nearest town and dodge the Intercity 125s as I moved from one to the other.
We've had a pretty quiet few days, with DW getting the first real planting of perennials & shrubs done out at the back. Most of the new area there is still full of couch grass, but she's cleared a bit (she thinks!:rotfl:) by hand.
As for the rest of the two newly-cleared areas, with all this rain the weeds are coming back with a vengeance and the stones near the surface are showing up better. I'm starting to pick those, but there are many thousands to shift. Thankfully, the soil here is a compensation. I once saw a garden with more stones than ours in the Teifi valley, close to the river, but theirs were round shingle, none as large as a golf ball, whereas ours are rough things, anything up to the size of a brick.
Anyway, we shall never have to buy any more hardcore for the base of paths etc and we do have that 25 tonnes of lovely stuff from the village that was parked here a few weekends back.0 -
Well yesterday was a mammoth gardening day
I took my weed remover out and filled the garden bin with those creepy buttercups :j. It is gorgeous and sunny again here so far and I am hoping to have another day getting the garden in shape. The hedge needs done and there are still parts of the grass needing cut.
Maybe if I am really enthusiastic I will get the shed cleared out so I can reclaim my potting shedI'm really struggling for what to tackle first though. How do you guys "plan"?

We have lots of creepy buttercups and dandelions and I'd like something that makes the task easier. Instead I got to work on the Sticky Willy. Cleared a big patch of that.

Yes I got one of the Fiskars weed removers and it was a fabulous investmentIt truly makes short work of dandelions, daisies and creeping buttercups. Not only does it haul out their roots it is great fun to use. Sticky willow is another thing we have a problem with, although it is confined to the back garden.
I do not so much plan as flit from area to area so that I do not get bored (or sore). For example over the last couple of days I have cleared two beds and planted up a heap of things but I probably only spend 15 mins per task before moving onto a new one. That way I get three projects doneTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

And, yes.. I really need to get back into the yoga. I never used to get this stiff when weeding.0 -
It is the first time that the three of us have fought over who gets to weed the garden :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
