Since the goose saga i have been bringing the boys into the back garden. This is the dogs place, and the dogs are scared of the geese, so i have been taking he dogs out the front to widdle. Just now i took the dogs out, leaving the door into the room they sleep in open, and we nipped put the front.
On the way back we could not see the geese near the house and the relievend dogs bolted for the door, then came flying out agin, persued by Egg. Aristwaddle had settled down in the dogs duvet! Poor dog dog was shaking with terror but i could not stop laughing.0 -

We haven't got a boiler to pack up, just the gravity-fed Aga, which is still on. We turned it off on April Fool's Day last year. Once it goes off, that's it, until 'the man' comes back to clean and re-light it in November.
In the evenings we're backing up with a few hours from the woodburner too.:o
Don't seem to have got much done today, but maybe that's because most of the the morning was lost to strange activities, like hoovering....
Still, we've got peas and onions in, and the first flowers open on the fast tomatoes.Peppers are a bit of a disaster though, thanks to my home-made aphid spray, which worked last year, but obviously didn't store well.

Not a brill day then alfieWe haven't got a boiler to pack up, just the gravity-fed Aga, which is still on. We turned it off on April Fool's Day last year. Once it goes off, that's it, until 'the man' comes back to clean and re-light it in November.

We didn't turn ours off at all last summer nor the year before, I think. If the weather goes on like this it will be staying on this year too.
Having accidentally ran out of oil recently, we had fun re-lighting it but, luckily, can clean & do that so only have 'the man' to do a service.
Having no oil meant no CH either so the house lost it's temperature pretty quickly brrrrrr but it's back up now. It takes some time to get the thick walls warm again so, hopefully, the cold snap this weekend will be a lot more comfy than the last one :D
I think the red deer must be coming right round to the back of the house to drink from our small pond as something is moving a very large clump of reeds (planted in a huge basket) around. Either that or the Beast is back0
