    lol :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Davesnave....

I had visions of some sort of carry on film. Seriously good job you had the !!!!!! to not panic ( well not much).

Rhiwie........ got your pm.... what are you doing tomorrow?
dont know what time we will be back today, I think it might be around tea time/early evening, We have had to borrow a bike to go...and its got no back rest:eek:, so i have got to go back to thigh squeezing:rotfl:plus i will have a ruck sack on, with some drinks for on the way.... PLUS i some how got to carry a posey of flowers, :rotfl: so have managed to find a box the right size to put them in, so will put the box in a carrier bag, and just hold on to it ...and hope i dont drop it:p

This morning i had a BIG dilema:eek: do i stay grey or do i go a strange shade of red? I normally dye my hair red, but over the last few months i have just let the colour grow out, and i was going to grow old gracefully, plus i think Lisa Dingle on Emmerdale's hair looks nice:cool:...but I knew i would get all sorts of comments today at the funeral about being grey, sooooooo I have given in and gone a strange colour ( between brown and red..lol..)

Heard the weather forcast:eek: going to be piddling it down on monday:o

    catch you all later

I'm seriously jealous of those of you who are or have been meeting up. Funny, eh? I'd love someone to give my land a once over too.

CTC, I'm thinking about a new hair colour. I try to shy away from too much vanity as I have a mother and father who prize physical attraction above all other and it's not a very attractive personality trait... However, going grey is the one thing I don't think I want to deal with and I have very dark brown hair. The last two years, with the twins, have seen an increase in greyness, though you'd still have to be really looking. Nonetheless, I fancy a bit of a trial. I'd love to be proper red. My OH is a Celt and we have a titian haired daughter, but my skin tone is way too yellow, so it's a no no unless I want to look permanently washed out. I think it'll have to be plum or purple. Or perhaps I'm just having a mid life crisis?

Being Miss Health and Safety, I'm a little anxious about farm machinery and manuals... Glad you survived Dave. :D

The sort of machines we're loaned don't come with manuals! Indeed, after thousands of hours work, they develop their own personalities. ;)

The main problem with big things, like dumpers, is that they aren't adjustable, and the designers (I use that term loosely!) seem to start from the premise that the drivers will all be strapping blokes of 6' 3". DW & I have short legs, and we often require the pedals urgently, thanks to weird steering or being in the wrong gear. :(

A new plan arrived this morning. Our architect seems to be getting the idea now, although we're beginning to wonder who's doing most of the work! :rotfl:

We've finally achieved three double bedrooms, all at the same end of the building, a decent utility space, an upstairs sitting room and a good sized office, all without shifting the kitchen or dining room. I've now worked out a way to get larger master bedroom too, so price is the only thing between us and carrying out this plan to go upwards.

We know not everyone would want a big upstairs office, but to us it makes more sense than a bedroom which we'd rarely sit in and look out of....and of course a future owner could [STRIKE]use[/STRIKE] waste it to sleep in if they wanted to!

All the hassle with re-designing our house has centred on holding down costs by keeping as much as possible unchanged.
It is such a pig's ear ATM, I'm amazed at how much probably can be retained. :)

Ah well, that's something positive. OH is a "strapping bloke of 6'3" " precisely :D

What are you doing about costs, dave? It sounds as though you are doing something very similar to us in style, although because of the state of our place, the windows, modern amenities and the lack of insulation and stairs, we're starting from the premise of leave as little as possible and start from scratch. We're hoping that what is a capital expenditure now will be balanced out by the cost savings on energy etc over the years. The only thing that will be the same shape and size is the front lounge.

The quote for the windows is half the "shell budget" but that's a lot of wood glass and doors and a very snazzy staircase. The quote for new roof trusses is apparently surprisingly low at £6K and we're replacing the old concrete tiles as there's nothing wrong with them. What's left of the seemingly reasonable budget to complete the shell is rapidly diminishing and the 20% contingency has already been eaten up by the plumbing which includes two new boiler systems, underfloor heating for the entire downstairs, rads for the up and some solar panels on the roof. I'm on pins til we get the costings for everything else back next week!

Really cold here & very low cloud which seems to catch the climbers of our jagged peaks out hence helicopters zig zagging around in the murk.

Dave glad we didn't hear about you on the news - out of control flattening the vernacular with your dumper.

Rozee - when I hear/see the word 'Bespoke' I always get the comma in the wrong place.
Got windas being delivered on Tuesday - so that's good, I think - but haven't managed to pay for them yet - Yikes....................

Free listing allweekend & Monday up to a 100 items - so that'll be me.
The camera's switch is going unsurprisingly - let's hope it holds out.

Have a poorly hen, with a bad leg - so isolated her in a pen on her own to kinda rest her up - glad we made surplus houses & have the extra runs - really handy for times such as these.

    Happy Easter all.

CTC - good luck with your funeral - how sad, but these events can be massive & a meet up of folks you may not have seen for a long time - bitter sweet.

Off to take photos that make my items look good & look as if I'm a normal house dweller.............instead of a scruff in a van.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Had a divine day with alfie. Loads and loads of donks and cattle on the forest today, both of whoch i secretly prefer to most of the ponies.

Apart from alfie's ruby, who is looking stonkingly good for her age, and while we didn't catch her, dh worked his special magic on her and i am confident we COULD have forced the issue and he could have caught her. Instead, because she is young and there is no rush alfie and i think its better to win her trust than her submission, so alfie is going to do more of the same for a few weeks, then, we'll go back, play some more, catch her, then she will come and stay with me for a few weeks and go back hopefully reliably cooperative.

I think alfie is doing a good job. The minis and i had good fun while dh did the hard work with Ruby :)

Also, alfie, you have to know, that painting....looks GORGEOUS against the test purple patch we did in the bedroom, and totally tones down the pastel of it, so it looks more like the colour i wanted it to be. Dh is looking for paint brushes and we are going to try and do some more of the wall it has inspired us so.

We feel so lucky. Its been a lovely day cuddling creatures and chatting with likeminded people, seeing beautiful things and places. Tbh, i would pay an entry fee everytime i go to alfie's place, its just ...sigh....a feast for the eyes. Seeing somewhere else lovely to day was just tremendous. I feel like dh and i are getting style mentoring, and it is SO appreciated! Dh and i had a super, super day!

I would say there are similarities, but our upstairs will much smaller than yours and it's unlikely we'll be building outwards in any significant way. (I'll do some photos later on when I'm sure.)

Because one end of our place has been extended, we already have a central section with 3 outside walls, so we only have to reinforce the fourth, stick in a few RSJs and, bingo we have the basis for raising the central section. This will give us two decent 20'-ish rooms upstairs. The rest just needs a few walls moved.

All our 'normal' windows were renewed 3 years ago and the abnormal ones are in structures that will be demolished i.e. the current utility and the conservatory. Like you, we'll reuse roof tiles and just add some new ones.

As for heating, we'd like to go ground source heat pump with wood back-up, but it depends upon what we can afford.when we get a ball park figure for the build, we can look at that. If the ball-park figure is too high, we will go to Plan B.

Bearing in mind that we currently have a garage, good sized external utility and a 25' conservatory built on, and we're going to knock them down, our place won't end up any larger. If you saw them, you really wouldn't want to keep these 'features,' though! :rotfl:
