this is typical of the Evening News.

    Spy cameras?

The 'new' system has been in place for around 20 years.

    pretty obvious,no?
Yes, blindingly obvious. At first I thought that car lane was red and the bus lane black or green, the opposite of everywhere else, but I see that's just the way the light is.

There's a huge difference between those scamera spy cars Westminster has for example, who go around parking on double yellows, hiding and catching people performing pointlessly banned turns, and being caught driving in a 20 year old bus lane!

well the bus lane is green(Greenways as they are called here)
The road isnt red as such. just a heavy dose of red chips

“A longer grace period would have allowed road users to acclimatise to the new system. If motorists are being caught with that regularity, I would question whether the system is robust enough to leave no confusion.”

Exactly, why not send a warning letter?

oh heres an earlier piece with the usual Evening news car bias.
Seems enforcing the laws causes chaos?
Craig Finlay, 36, who commutes from Dalkeith to the city centre each day and received three warning letters during the three-week trial period, said the new system was inflexible.

so commutes the same road every day.
can't quite work out what the bus lanes are for?
"inflexible",as in don't enforce the stated regulations?

Eh? Are these people stupid? Three warning letters and no fines is what I call as flexible as it can be when the offence is absolute! Flexible is allowing a 10 min grace period when parking. Flexible is not prosecuting people for speeding until they go 10%+2 over the limit. What he seems to want is not flexibility but total immunity!

You're telling me! Round here, as you can see on the facebook page, cycle lanes mean 'you may double park here' and 'No loading at any time' means 'Feel free to load for as long as you like, we don't care.' And of course PHVs are exempt from the Road Traffic Act.
