Well that's just stupid. Why on earth don't they turn their engines off?!

Personally? To keep the heater running ;)

I thought you had a modicum of intelligence until you came out with that particular piece of foolishness.

    Ah well, never mind.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

I do so because its fast and free.

The free bit isn't that important to me as the costs of running a couple of cars (including an Audi A8) are vanishingly trivial in the grand scheme of things. That and I spend a *lot* on my fine stable of bicycles. :D

For me, it's because cycling is fast, liberating, and keeps me reasonably fit.

The environmental side *is* a factor for me, particularly localised particulates, but it's not the major factor.

Ha. My housemates pay £200 a year for a bus pass, and leave the house at around 8.25 for a 9am lecture. I leave at 8.40 on my bike and am always sat in the lecture theatre looking smug as they walk in 5 mins later. :p

I'd like to do a similar thing in a few years when I've graduated and get a proper job - have a couple of thirsty and ludicrous big cars but never use them because I can cycle to work. :D

I put £20 in the car today.
will be weeks before I add more, unless we go on a long trip somewhere.

As it happens, I am doing a longish trip by car tomorrow, and that distance will be probably three times my usual weekly cycling distance. However, I last drove two weeks ago, and the gap before that was maybe 4-6 weeks.

“A longer grace period would have allowed road users to acclimatise to the new system. If motorists are being caught with that regularity, I would question whether the system is robust enough to leave no confusion.”

The 'new' system has been in place for around 20 years.

But is it a full time bus lane?

Many around here are only bus lanes from 7am til 7pm, though using them does upset the numpties who are to stupid to read a great big blue and white sign.......

Loads here are only bus lanes for 2.5 hours a day and only for 5 days a week. More cars drive in the bus lanes when they are active than do when they are open to all!
