EDIT - Well I'm now married and have updated my last post with my final figure. I thought I'd edit this first post to highlight where photos are so if you're just scrolling for ideas etc you don't have to read my constant updated :rotfl:

Post 3 shows the banners I got from Vistaprint - I'd hugely recommend Vistaprint, we had personalised pens for free, banners for free, our top tip tree cards for free etc. Fantastic. I even made our photo album from there. I do admit I am crafty and LOVE things like this, so that does help.

Post 9 shows our Mr & Mrs Cards, this game at the wedding was my highlight. All the guests got involved giving us questions and I just loved every minute of it.

Post 12 shows the charms I made with stuff from ebay.

Post 41 shows an idea I had for a cake, but decided against.

Post 103 shows our centerieces, mirror places from Ikea, plastic bowls instead of glass, shell we collected, bucket with rock sweets in, etc. Also our button holes I made.

Post 11 shows the postbox and flowers I made from stuff off ebay, and the top tip tree we also made.

Post 117 shows our do not disturb sign which I loved.

TOTAL UPDATE ...... POST 125 HAS FULL DETAILS. £3495 WITH SOME ITEMS STILL TO SELL

ORIGINAL 1st POST - Many moons ago>
Ok, much has been said these past few weeks on whether a 3k wedding is do-able. I sincerely hope so because that is my budget.

I've started this thread to help me keep my money in check (even though I have a budget spreadsheet :rotfl:) and so that hopefully you good people might be able to point me in the direction of money saving ideas, as and when they come up.

So we got engaged in June last year in Rome and the wedding is planned for June 2013. OH suggested we spend 5k on the wedding, which seemed quite high to me, so we settled on 3k. OH doesn't 'do' budgets, so he thinks if we have £500 set aside for something, and it costs £550 we just get it. Luckily that's not been a problem so far.... but watch this space.

We have been together for many years, and lived together for coming up two years this June so we really don't want a fuss.

Main thing we wanted was it to be fun, informal and for all our friends and family to spend our wedding day with us.

We are so lucky when I read some of the threads on here, we are doing the wedding as we like it, inviting who we want and aren't paying attention to any negative/bossy/interfering comments we might get.

Ceremony and Party Basics

My OH practically lives in the sea, so the theme is beach. We didn't want a wedding breakfast so I contacted two hotels in Tynemouth, one wouldn't allow us to use the ceremony room without having the breakfast at £35 a head afterwards and the other one would. So we settled on the ceremony room for £100 with the cocktail lounge booked out to us for £100.00 also. So hotel to marry in is £200.00. I know it was only £40.00 to get married at the Registry Office but we have the hotel for the whole day and night, and we will use the cocktail lounge to host a drinks reception after the ceremony.

Registrar fees £350.00
Notice £67.00
Certificate £3.50

After the ceremony we are having canapes at £10.00 per head (approx 25 people) £250.00

We are paying for sparkling wine to go with canapes, approx cost is £20 per bottle, each bottle providing 6 flutes. £160

We are getting married at 4pm, then the drinks reception takes us to 6.30pm-7pm when we will go to the evening reception which is the other side of the beach.

Evening reception including decorations, DJ and hot buffet is £25 per person, approx 60 people £1500.00

Sangria Fountain at night £160.00

So I make that a total of £2690.00

I'll have a hunt though all my receipts I have so far I make it I have £310 left to spend on misc.

Sounds good - I am with your husband though, £3000 does sound a little low.

    What about the following though....
Wedding dress? Shoes? Flowers? Suit Hire? Transport?

We would like a photobooth, but at £500 we decided to make our own by buying silly hats etc. OH will link up the camera to the laptop and set a program saying something like press the spacebar, and it will count down from 10 to 1 and take a pic. I have a banner of vistaprint saying XXX and XXX'S Photobooth, and am looking at spending no more than £20 on the photobooth. Current cost is around £5 and we have chalkboards, glasses, wigs, OH would like to get a whiteboard with holes in so people can draw outfits on themselves too. A poster on here was invaluable in listing loads of fab things to buy or make for this so thank you loads.

We are not having a Wish Tree but a Top Tip Tree, I have a banner and the cards ordered from vistaprint to go on the tree. The tree I am hoping to make from twigs etc so cost for this is approx £1.00 (banner and cards free with just postage). I have £20 set aside for this.

Signing Frame, we already have a frame and mount and have a poster to go inside asking guests to sign the mount for us.
I also have a couple of banners from vistaprint saying congratulations etc and also ordered one of their lawn signs (as it was free) so thought I'd give it a whirl. (£2.00 postage)

    Free.

Wedding dress? Shoes? Flowers? Suit Hire? Transport?

Wedding dress is bought off Ebay for £150.00.

Shoes - I've been off work with a tumor on my foot since September, so I have lived in nothing but bandage. My wedding shoes are a present to me off OH (out of budget) and I have my eye on some fab red Jimmy choos:j I will probs get the shoes this year (a carrot to get better) and keep them pristine for the wedding.

Flowers - we aren't having any flowers.

Suit - OH says he's wearing a wet suit (I pray he's joking :rotfl:) but he has a couple of suits he could use. I don't think he will wear a suit, as he has only ever worn one on maybe two occasions I've known him. I think it will be trousers and a shirt.

Transport - we don't need. OH and I will arrive at the hotel in the morning, I'll have lunch with my girlies, he'll be out kitesurfing with his blokeys. The ceremony is in the hotel and the evening reception is a min walk along the promenade.

We aren't doing invites, as it's a small wedding we will be asking guests, we have a wedding website set up for all the information and details they could possibly want and more - I've been working on it since September and it's full of everything :rotfl:

Sorry but you'll want to buy your shoes and wear them round the house to wear them in otherwise you'll have HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE blisters on your feet on your wedding day :)

Centrepieces are shells we have collected off the beach, with the metal minibuckets you get off ebay. We got 24 for £5.00. These will be filled with rock sweets saying just married. Yet to price these though, as don't know how many we'll need.

We are naming tables after wind.........don't ask. So they'll be called Maestro, Ostria, Sirocco (not North Easterly which is what I first thought he meant.....)

We are having a Mr & Mrs game so each table will have a card explaining they are write a question on the back that we can answer Mr or Mrs too and they will be collected in and we'll do it around 10pm. Again we got the cards free off vistaprint.

We have a load of pens with our names on and silly things like 'finally did it in Tynemouth' etc, these will be on each table for them to fill out the cards and also on the Top Tip Tree and Signing Mount.

I plan on buying the MOH and BM dress out of my own money, not the budget. The same for hair and make up for them too. I hadn't really considered putting it in the budget... hhhmmmmm

We'll be selling the dresses afterwards.
