Our 3k budget wedding planning

We're trying to bring our Wedding in at 3k as well
So far we have the reception venue booked, my dress, band and wine and I've managed to get all that for under 1k so it should be manageable. wow well doneOH is marrying in uniform so that's an expense I don't have (luckily). I think the bulk of the costs will be on decorating the venue and food. We want an Italian buffet as the Wedding breakfast (our first date was an Italian restaurant so Italian food is special to us) and a hog roast in the evening i love the idea of a hog roast, it's been mentioned on here quite a bit lately. The reception venue is a village hall so will need quite a bit of jazzing up but I think I can bring the food and decorations in at around £750.
I'm making my own invites, table plan etc and creating cupcake bouquets to serve as centrepieces/favours. Also contemplating doing my own flowers, if I can find the inspiration :rotfl:
have you seen the make your own wedding flowers sticky at the top? I've had a read through and it does seem full of useful info.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

I've had a look but I'm not very good with flowers ( I can kill Cacti) so I'm leaving that for Mum to read and see if she can make sense of it - she has the green fingers in our family
In terms of the Hog Roast, I spoke to my local butcher and they are doing it for £2 a head for me. May be worth asking a couple near you.0 -

It's OK,will depend on dress, more expensive I might try preloved, if it's only 50 or under I would probably use ebay.

what about wedding rings?
We aren't having any. OH spends his life practically in the sea, so I could just imagine where his would end up :rotfl: and due to the diamond of my engagement ring and size of band, a wedding ring would look odd we think.
Someone mentioned last week or so, a few years after getting married without rings they decided to get them, so that's an option for us, but for the time being we are doing without.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

excellent breakdown, thank you so much mrsD (goes off to attempt the same)
This is just what I was looking for. something to point me in the right direction. I have a spreadsheet, but it's over so many pages, I hoped this thread would condense it all.
So many people lately have been asking about 3k budgets and what it gets you - I think you post sums it up fantastically for yourself. I am going to attempt the sameForty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
