I have received my 3 satin-look long wraps for the wedding day, I got cream for myself and red for the MOH and BM. I am now going to attempt to glue the wording on to them myself - how hard can it be

They were £7.99 each and came with satin-look shorts and t-shirt type pj's too, so I'll put them in a flat box with some tissue paper and that can be a pressie for them on the day :)

The website for my venue is back up and running so that's a relief, they were just changing providers (phew....)

I also managed to get a 50in martini glass off ebay for next to nothing, as it was listed in the wrong category :rotfl: so once it comes i'll sort all my centrepieces and put up a pic with the total cost per centre piece.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

I would include price of everything, I would also say its not as easy as you think to sell everything on for a good price especially your wedding dress which will cost about 100 quid to dry clean before you can even sell it - hence why I never bothered to sell my dress..I mean if buying tablecloths news was a difference of 10 quid most people would not buy second hand - people are rightly looking for half price or less. I would also say this is your one day so dont scrimp on lots you may regret it latter. I married last March after dating for 17 years I had 20 day guest and about 80 at night and it cost me 6k and it was worth it. My dress was 600 which was a bargain maybe I should try and sell it...
  • I dont want to spend more than 3k on our wedding, but with 100 people at the day and more at night I cannot see it being less than 7k :(

Hate the expectations of big families :(

Could you go for a late wedding, so you only have a buffet in the evening?

It was such a gorgeous morning I had a stroll along the beach and took some photos of our wedding venue. Looks lovely in the sunshine.

our wedding budget is also around the 3k mark. Am at work so don't have the figures to hand but so far have spent around 1300 on giving notice, booking honeymoon flights, cottage, last night hotel, wedding rings and OH's wedding shoes (oh, my that is something to talk about on its own :rotfl: )

We are having a small registry office ceremony with just parents followed by country pub meal so that will be 180 for the ceremony and lunch for 6. Then 3 days later we are having family only (22 people) to a handfasting ceremony at a small hotel that means a lot to us. The staff know us and I think are going to do what they can for as little cost as possible, lovely people.

We aren't having a photographer, family will take photos as they want to and send them on to us, no posh cars, there is no charge from the hotel for the use of the gardens and their small banqueting room and I've budgeted about 400 tops for 2 outfits - 1 for each ceremony. I'm hoping to spend less! I will do my own hair and make up and will make the button holes for the registry ceremony. I will probably do my bouquet as well - I just want a selection of long silk flowers wrapped in ribbon. We are making our own cake in the days between the 2 ceremonies. We both love baking and will make a 2 tier chocolate cake covered in loads of chocolate frosting. OH's mum is going to do us some autumn related decorations. My mum and sister are going to do the invitations - my Mum does card making as a hobby. We will have 1 bridesmaid and I am going to give her Mum (my other sister) £30 to get a suitable dress etc as they are in Canada.

Only major spend needed is the reception meal which is 14.95 a head plus some wine. No disco etc, that really isn't us so all in all it will probably be nearer 3.5k (mostly because of OH's shoes!! :rotfl: ) but still, not too bad.

so far, I've spent 13.99 on my wedding outfit (a pair of shoes!) so really need to up the ideas! I will probably be having outfits made from Etsy sellers as as well as being plus sized, I love slightly pagan/gothic styles so can't exactly walk into the local wedding shop and try a few dresses on!

I am completely in awe of the posters managing to budget a wedding for 3k!!!
I am making my own cake, table decorations, favours, invitations and sorting the flowers myself as well.
My shoes are already owned (one of those purchases that never ended being worn and will now be perfect)
I'm doing really well at budgeting, my massive problem is that I have fallen in love with the most amazing reception venue which is going to cost £7000 just for the hall hire then £55per head for 100 people.
I realise it is high because I am set on a Saturday in June and wondered if anyone had opinions on weekday weddings?
I want to consider it but am worried that no one will come as you can't really have a drink on a work night and also it would mean a day off of work for most of the friends and family!

I'm still updating the blog on our website, whether anyone will read it or not is another matter but it's something I hope I'll look back on and enjoy reading.

We are now turning our attention to giving notice, which we can do soon........ together with starting to pay off things, we've been holding off until we have less than a year to go, so we'll be somewhat lighter financially soon!

You might find some useful info on this thread, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3331420 or if you create a thread on the main board more people might read that than on here.

I wouldn't really mind going to a wedding and not drinking, depending where it is I might decide to drive even if it was on a week day. If you're wanting a bid day wedding some might not take the day off but if it was just close family and friends I bet they all would try.
