Before you go insulting fellow members, I suggest you check their post history and "Thank you count".
I have found his knowledge and helpfulness generally very informative.
On the point of the faulty handset, it is absolutely correct (unfortunately) that after 6 months, the onus on you is to prove manufacturing fault. You can't just tip up and say that because it stopped working it is, therefore the manufacturer/reseller's fault.
Try an Apple shop.
On another tack, try googling the web for any UK challenges that have been successful against Apple's 1 year warranty and if you find one, follow that.
You might also want to consider that Curry's Comet etc offer chargeable 3 year warranties on TV's for example. If they were covered for 2 years under SOGA or whatever, how would they sell for the extortionate sums charged if it was only for one extra year?0 -

Then of course there are those who solicit thankjs with every post SIG.... like most things, smile if it makes you happy - ignore it of it doesn't!
As to the OP - Voda are not exempted from their legal responsibilities, however these do not embrace what the OP believes, and many external issues can prevail, the best I hear (for a charger) was one that exploded after 18 months, and the purchaser wanted a replacement FoC. It transpired he overlooked to mention his power line had a lightning hit and was trying a low-cost route to repair (as the electricity supply company is exempt). Whilst this might not have happenbed in this case, Apple would provide a replacement for a modest fee.0 -

Think mattyprice was talking about prosaver, and his rather misguided comments regarding the SOGA in this post..... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/38015070 -

Why then did he quote Grumbler's post?
Can't see what prosaver has done to warrant that comment either.0 -

Prosaver's reply to my post was annoying indeed and I did make an effort not to reply in a different, less calm, manner.0 -

Don't know why they quoted Grumbler, but having read prosavers other thread, I was under the impression that the comment was directed towards him.
Regarding the validity of the comment, it seems that prosaver has edited some of his comments on the other thread and some have also been deleted by the board guides.0 -

Getting back to the OP's situation the SOGA's use would be the fit for purpose clause ie the "purpose" being for use for the duration of the contract supplied.
That said because it's now 20 months the OP would have to get an engineers report to say it was not down to misuse
The EU directive does clearly state that all goods have a 2 year guarantee and whilst it's not yet "Law" in this country it seems there are more and more companies complying with this when contested. O2 certianly have in the past.
I think considering the cost of a replacement IPhone and the minimal cost of a MCOL I would try my luck and would certainly have sent a LBA to the legal deptIt's not just about the money0 -
Thanks for all your responses, it seems that what I need is an independent expert to verify the phone has been well looked after and that the fault must therefore have been inherent.
Vodafone didn't mention this.0
