I'd guess that if my two older siblings did not go to university then the education pot my parents have been saving for all these years must be overflowing and with only me left to try out for uni, I should be quids in.
Of course, if there is no kitty then I might soon be asking why and just where did it go because it was obvious from the 1990s that free university education via grants was a thing of the past.0 -
Reminds me of that song from the 1970s I think where the son presents the mum with a bill for something little he did. She then lists everything that she has done for him - no charge. Love it and must find it to play for my little ones!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

You find it fascinating that people talk about stuff?

You would? Really?
I'm glad you're not mine then because I'd be ashamed of your inflated sense of entitlement and expectation.Herman - MP for all!

I'm pretty sure property.advert was writing with their tongue firmly in cheek.
Even as a non-parent, the comment from your little one and all the other little darlings on here has made me chuckle - a nice start to any day, so thank you all.0 -

There were several of us who all thought elantan was making some sort of dig or was making an issue out of nothing (regardless of her later protestation).
She was replied to in the same vein. Hardly bullying.Herman - MP for all!

I guess families differ. My parents would have been extremely disappointed and ashamed of me if I hadn't intended to go to university.I'm glad you're not mine then because I'd be ashamed of your inflated sense of entitlement and expectation.
No university fund needed though. It doesn't cost money to go to university, don't believe the scare stories. Unless the family earns enough to reduce the funding available to the child ofc.0 -

The sense of entitlement remark referred to the expectation that there should be / would be money in place to pay for it.
Many 'kids' go to Uni through their own hard work and determination simply because their parents are not in a position to help. They wouldn't expect a 'kitty'
P.a's post was a description of a financial expectation. Iyswim.
