Ohhhh decided to take my CC out of my wallet this morning...that may help! Get paid on Monday and will be trying to pay for things with cash all month, plus keep a spending diary as hope if I have to write it down and justify it, I will hopefully think twice about how much I actually need to the item! xxx

  • Well managed to do a meal plan for the week which involved eating a lot of the stuff we already have! I decided to go to the supermarket and ignore the clothes, home, dvd, music, books, alchohol, magazines and the hair and beauty aisles! This meant that the shop took hardly any time at all and was sooooooo much cheaper than usual! The only product that wasn't on my list was a massive shampoo and conditioner combo that was on one of the ends of the aisles, which were on a bogof and will last for ages!

I was actually quite shocked at how when you work it out, sometimes the multibuy deals are really proper rubbish! I had never really though about it before, just though ooooh 5 items for £3 when it works out if you actually brought them normally they would be about £3.10 or something!

I decided as well to try a few own brand products to give them a try and see what they are like. Emily and her mate have polished off the own brand sausages I cooked them for tea and haven't yet complained! I usually buy everything with a brand on and rarely buy the supermarket's own version. Times are a changing now though!

Forgot to take my trackie bottoms back to the dam sports shop today...grrrrrr! Will make sure I do that very soon to get me my monies back. Also forgot to take that top back to Asda....grrrrrr! And will have to do that very soon too!

Feeling a little more optomistic now. Saw quite a few bits in view whilst wandering through Asda and passed a lovely handbag near the doors...usually I would have just thrown it in, but today I actually thought 'You don't need it you want to be debt free more' and then carried on, very pelased! xxx

  • Hey donner_kebab,

Just had a wee read through your diary & love it already!

Can I just say that your cat is might fat - very cute though

    Your Emily is gorgeous aswell.

You seem to be very determined in that you want to be debt free so good for you I wish you all the best.

I am exactly the same by the way in supermarkets have to totally avoid all of the clothes, mags, dvds etc sections otherwise I end up spending a fortune its a nightmare!!!

I am also trying to lose weight but I suck at it so meh! Will keep at it though I am sure I will manage it in the end haha

  • Hi Donner :)

I have just read through your diary and love the way your determination really shines through :T

Finally - just the other day actually - i had a bit of a mini celebration when i realised that the cost of all these 'little' treats really mounts up and so resisted the temptation and PADed over £1 instead :jSo well done to you on resisting the bag and other items at the supermarket :j I've also been saving lots by meal planning :) and for some things i do buy own brand stuff :D

It is good you are continuing with one class at the gym and would be fab if you could find a way to do the others too but understand that you have cut back as needs must and all that. i confess to not having my hair cut or coloured for well over a year when initially on the Debt Clearing Path - then i saw some pics of me at a wedding - all i'll say is  :( and *sob* :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: So squoze that back into my budget and as i now book a mobile hairdresser too it is cheaper than me going for just a cut at the previous hairdressers - and i don't look a fright now either  :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

have subscribed now so will probably pop in if thats ok?

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend

I'm going to subscribe and look forward to seeing your progress :) Just a tip I use, I leave my purse at home/work when I go for a walk into town. It means I just have the benefits of some fresh air :)

    Good luck :)

    Hello D
Nice to meet you! it is crazy how all the bits in the Supermarket can add up when you don't realise it! Especially as I rarely buy anything full price, so you always kinda think you are getting a great bargain...only not so much of a bargin really!

Loosing weight is sooooo dam tough. Only wish it was a tough to put weight on! :rotfl:xxx

Hello there! I :rotfl:at your comment about the hair! Somethings you just have to squeeze back in to that budget...hard and as upsetting as it may seem :( I have short hair so it requires cutting quite often otherwise it looks HORRENDOUS!

Have been think about the PAD thing and might do a PAW if there is such a thing, payment a week! That way I will still be able to make a dent at the debt and then not long for payday so often, wishing my life away. Deffo worth me thinking about :) Must be nice seeing the payments come off when the statements come through...plus probably annoy the banks lol! :p xxx

  • Had an AMAZING day today :):):)

Got up early to head off to Boot Camp in the sunshine, feeling sad that this was gonna be the last block of classes for quite a while...

Went to pay and my instructor said to put my money aside and would I like to come over for a cuppa after class and have a chat...

After class (he knows the money situation as I had mailed him yesterday to say this would be my last set of classes) he said that I could come to Boot Camp and not pay as he would much rather I be there and encourage the rest of the guys than for me to be at home, probably asleep at that time of morning! I said I couldn't do that as know his money situation too and didn't feel ok with the idea of going but not paying like the rest, so he asked me if I would like to be a helper at the kids class on a Wednesday and then I could train for free on a Sunday! He does classes in the week too so if I help out more I can get more classes and he said about Emily coming too...

Him and his lovely wife who comes along to class as such amazing people, so caring and proof that there are nice peeps out there! It has always been a dream of mine to help out at a kids class and perhaps one day have my own ladies only class and he mentioned that there are people out there trying to get instructors so this could well be that foot in the door I need! Helps me train and also helps me get towards my dream too :) Keeps me busy in the evenings and is a great opportunity to one day help me get out of the job I hate and into something that I love!

So I have the money put aside the money I had saved for the classes for the next 6 weeks (I had £20 out of the £24 put aside) so am going to pay that off of a card this week :)

Not to mention I have found another top to try taking back to Asda, really hope they will take the two tops back as only got them a week or so ago and still have the tags and receipts and the changing room was shut at the time so will say they don't fit and hope for the best, even a credit note would be fab...so with that and those dam trackies I have to take back, will have an extra £58 to pay off of a card!

    xxx

  • Also toying with the idea of cancelling my work pension as certainly don't plan to be there too much longer if I am honest. It is bad enough seeing my Ex every day but each day I get up for work I hope I am sick so I can have a day away from the place...that is really not a good place to be :(:(:( I have been unhappy for a while as know that sooner or later my team will probably de disbanded and I won't have a job doing what I am doing anymore...IT is like that :(

So checked a wageslip I found and I pay about £165 wise to a pension. I know I won't get all that back but anything is better than nothing. I don't think I can opt back in afterwards (or I may get one chance to opt back in) and was thinking even if it was a year off, that extra money could sure come in useful...deffo one to think about xxx
