Hi donner, just a thought re your lessons have you asked if they need anyone to do a leaflet drop to promote the classes, you could offer to do it when you are out for a run in return for a free lesson, a friends son did this and helped out with the younger ones classes and got his for free. No harm in asking :D Good luck with your debt busting
  • hi donner

well done on the nsd :T

re the food budget, pop over to the old style thread as there are lots of cheap and filling recipes :) as theres just the two of you, could you try some batch cooking like casseroles, chilli etc...

like you i like to snack but sometimes if im busy i dont get a chance to eat it all. i have found apples to be really good as they last a few weeks in the fridge so they are good to keep. you could also try getting some cereal bars etc... to keep in your drawer as they wont go off :)

i think if you can find some room you should def try to keep at one class as its nice you do something with your daughter and i always think if you cut it too tight you are more likely to fall off the wagon

Hello Clippy! Can I first say a HUGE well done on your signature with regards to the debt busting, you have paid off loads!

I will take a looksy as need to plan for the next weeks food shop. Hoping to do very little as have quite a few random bits of foodies I can use up. I looked in the cupboard the other day and realised I had about 10 packs of couscous...random stuff like that!!!

Apples are a fab idea :) I understand now that I have a real emotional attachment with food and need to break this as don't want to spend my life yo-yo dieting.

I am hoping to keep the Monday night class with Emily as that was the class I started at years ago and I love those guys plus it is a social thing too. I also love all the guys from the other classes, but the Monday night class is the ones I am trying to get my Black belt with...after my next grading in April i will be about half way there so really want to keep on going. I feel so loyal to the other classes though as know they are grateful of the money as are finding it tough to break even but I need to think of my situation :( xxx

  • Well what a day! Went from feeling sooooo positive to getting that letter and feeling properly hacked off!!! All I want is to pay this debt off and feel like it is trying to sabotage me. If I wasn't so much in debt that kinda amount wouldn't bother me as much I suppose and it is really starting to hit home how much of a mess I have made of everything. Ho hum, gonna try and get some sleep now...dunno if I will sleep much mind, too much going around in my head. Deffo some ebay listing gotta go on tomorrow methinks, should have done it tonight just been too busy mulling everything over. Nighty night all xxx

  • As suspected no sleep! Went to bed and then started to cry...not good. Finally got up and as I have the day off as leave today, I thought best to log on to Internet Banking to see what the damage is with regards to my other Card.

HSBC card is currently sat at 1216.72 with left over Virgin card at £87.30. So what with that and the other two cards, I can start to draw up a proper Signature now and something to aim towards.

I lent a friend £120 a little while ago as they were in financial difficulty (don't worry, certainly won't be lending anyone money again now that the LBM has arrived!) and they have paid that into my bank yesterday so plan to use that money to wipe out the Virgin card. That then leaves me with 3 to attack, HSBC being the first one as that is the only one with Interest on it at the mo and it is the lowest too.

I am planning to take an item of clothing back to the shop tomorrow...I brought a new pair of trackies to wear out and about, wanting a smartish pair so could wear them out and got them home and they didn't fit, despite being the same size as the old ones with the bleach stain! Different cut to these...and can't see them fitting for months if I am honest! So that £23.99 will come back and go to my card.

Had to spend £2 today for Emily's new GCSE RE Revision guide book. Don't plan on spending anymore really apart from might go and buy some mince to make 4 portions of spag bol for dinners. Will eat one tonight and one tomorrow and freeze the other 2. DD hates spag bol fussy begger but she may have to start learning to like it! But at the mo she has enough random bits in the freezer and her friend is staying tonight and tomorrow so will be bodging together a cheap lotta food for them. xxx

  • Actually I have another item of clothing I may be able to take back too...a top for a fiver from Asda. That would then pay for DD GCSE Revision book and the mince for tea!!! Jeez this may start getting addictive, but in a good way. xxx

  • The Water Bill and Council Tax would normally be going out each month but my Water Bill free months are March / April and I have March left to go for the free Council Tax month as is usually February and March.

What I would normally do is say to myself I will pay the money towards my debt at the end of the month but by then it is spent on cack. This time I plan to actually pay those amounts direct to the HSBC card on the 1st of the Month so that that doesn't happen again! That should take about £130 odd off of the card. xxx

  • Hiya

just wanted to stop by and say Hi :T

ive been reading your diary and wanted to say well done and dont worry your not alone!

i 2 also have 4 CC that require paying off as well as an OD and to top it off i have a mortgage to pay on my own

i had my LBM Jan 2012 and i carry a diary in my bag and if i spend money i write down how much, what i bought and noticed i spend less now

soon you will feel better that you have faced this finance issue rather than bury your head

i was scared to answer the house phone and door incase it was bad news and didnt open my mail ect

then in jan, i bit the bullet, signed up for online banking, opened 2 years of mail up filed it in date order ect and took charge

and i must say i feel loads better for it and i feel like im dealing with it

good luck on your rollercoaster ride, keep chipping away and you will get it sorted in no time:beer:

  • Hello mylastpound ,

It certainly is tough going isn't it? Just feels like I have been stuck like this for sooooo many years, but now is the time to bite the bullet and sort it out once and for all.

Great idea about the diary! That was kinda like why I wanted to switch over to using cash for everything, so I can see where it is going and keep the receipts etc to tot everything up. I know where I waste money...always in the dam supermarket!

Huge well done on starting your journey too. I admit sometimes I am scared to login to the Internet Banking but know now that as an adult I gotta get on top of it...still very scary though.

I have tried to talk to a few people about it recently, but friends just say 'there there it will get easier' and then in the very next breath, start banging on about how they have no debt or are getting a payrise...jeez!!! xxx

  • Old friend is coming over for a cup of tea in a bit...can't wait to see them as haven't seen them in ages. Normally I would suggest going out for lunch etc but not now...it is cup of tea at my house instead!!! xxx
