I somehow doubt you even have the intelligence level to empty the bins Robby, let alone have enough skills to hang a door properly.

    !!!!!! !!!!
just noted were you are from.
    explains a lot
  • I am a carpenter, the rate charged depends where you live in the UK.
Where I live the going rate for internal door hanging is £35+VAT if vat registered. This includes taking off old doors, planing the new doors to hang and fitting furniture.

If all I would need is to turn up and supply tools then this would be the cost.

anything around the 100 quid per day is fairish. maybe a bit more depending where you live.
and i reckon a chippy can hang 4 doors properly, in a days work.

    ps.
    i hate hanging doors.
    Get some gorm.

OK - this is a quote from my hubby, who has been a C&G quailified joiner for almost 20 years (OMG I forgot how old we were)

"anyone can 'hang' a door - most people could do that themselves or you can get that done quite cheaply, however, it takes skill to FIT a door - he would work on around 2 hours per door"

Hence the price he charges (£40 + VAT - but would probably offer a discount on 6 or more doors) - dont forget usually the person doing your work doesnt GET the hourly rate you pay - they have overheads such as insurance, advertising, fuel and tools

Well you haven't exactly made the best first impression have you.Keystone posted nearly 2 years ago and you bring up a dead thread,again.... If people need advice they generally search the threads and then start their own thread... When this thread started way back in 2007 the quote for the work would be different from today.....

Just one post from you and thats sniping at another poster, Troll alert ....................;)

Very interesting reading members responses to quotes given for various jobs but please include all the extras involved. Mileage/travel time to site. Cost of tools etc needed for the works, plus the skill to do the job correctly. Are you using tradespeople or the usual "Little man" from up the road. I've lost count of the amount of schemes I've worked out for people, particularly when I was VAT reg, where you find the unmarked old van parked outside a few weeks later. Cash in hand might save you a few bob now but seeing the quality of work done in peoples houses, it's not worth the risk or the headaches. The same applied when I was in the carpet trade,a fitter or 30years plus, customers would pay hundreds for a carpet and bilk at the fitting cost of perhaps £15-£25 a room. Often then phone me up to put the job right,in many cases impossible and twice the price. When I ventured into the Re-furbs and renovation side of things,it took me some time to find the extra trades needed that I could rely on and I have managed to still keep them over 20years plus by having the site ready for them to do their work without having to clear up etc and by paying promptly, something else customers might do well to remember!!!
