and Tesco make £millions by leaving erroneous prices on the system and only refunding those that spot overcharging on their receipt

DTD discount should not be voluntary - it should be law to protect consumers being over charged and encourage supermarkets to stop over charging - DTD or some other form of compensation

If a supermarket charged 10.000 people £1 more (than shelf price) for a box of chocs - then merely refunding the 3 people that 'noticed' their £1 is not suitable compensation - and the law really needs to step it about this

Tesco give Dtd because it's cheaper than the alternative of £4-5,000 fine from trading standards.

If they have the sign behind the counter saying they give dtd then it is illegal for them not to give it. It's part of some sort of consumer law.

    Hth.

Hi. After filling my boots on Thursday on toys in St St+pens, H+ll.
I got my first DTD I bought Panasonic KX-TG1614 Quad set of phones. There was a SEL with - Better Than Half Price was 104.99 now £49.99. I saw this offer finished yesterday- 18/03/12 and scanned the box and wow they were back up to full price. Bought them and went straight to customer services the lad behind the counter went and checked and happliy gave me £110 back.
So I made £5 from the sale, a free set of four phones, and a till spit for £5 of next weeks shop.:rotfl::rotfl:
I was a bit dubious at first but will be looking for for more DTD from now on.

Section 5 of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 is funnier to quote because all the CS staff think they are trained on SOGA but if you quote a big scary piece of legislation with the word "unfair" in it to them they get a bit shifty - especially if you tell them the maximum penalty is a fine for Tescos and two years in prison for the person who was responsible for the misprice.

Always good to watch the colour drain from the face of their "Compliance Managers" when you mention this :).

I bought an item in Sainsburys that had £1.50 all over the box, which they have been for years - and always makes me chuckle as it always says 'now only £1.50'
Anyway , I noticed for some reason that the label on the shelf said £1.60
Sure enugh scanned at the higher price.
So I had to queue up to get my 2 x 10p back.
Seemed trivial , but as the poster abover says , if they sell hundreds of these they are falsely making loads of money
