MrsC - I'm not an accountant but I am AAT qualified - yes I know I'm a Teaching Assistant but that's beside the point - it's a useful qualification to have if you want to work in either an accountant's or in the public or private sector in any of the accounts' departments. If you then decided to qualify as an accountant it counts towards the qualification and you don't have to do the first year of training at least. Don't know if that's any use to you at all but you can quiz me some more if you wish.
Back from shopping and we've ended up making an appointment for a kitchen advisor from Wickes to come and measure the kitchen on Thursday - we've wanted a different kitchen since we moved in this house nearly 9 years ago but that wasn't what we went shopping for today! We'll see what they come up with anyway.
Yorkie - Brilliant news about becoming MF albeit in sad circumstances.

Well I've had yet another great day  NOT!
Took DD2 to drumming then DD1 and I went to argos. Then we went to my friend's house so that he could fix my indicators and bleed my brakes, all went well and I was very pleasedOn the drive home the car broke down  looks like the clutch again :mad::mad:
I now have to join a break down service so I can get the car moved to the garage as they don't have a flat bed :(
I'm now just catching up on the washing and trying to get the DDs to do their jobs0 -

Need to do a hhi but having a quiet day at home tomorrow so might lock the kids in the conservatory and finish the pile...Bossymoo

Hi all. Work is finished for the week and I have a free morning tomorrow as DS2 is not picked for the away rugby game only training at home. No doubt will have to go to football tomorrow afternoon tho. Off to find my list and see if I can cross off anything from the jobs the kids did this morning.0

Thanks for the advice, jue. It's nice to know that it's considered a qualification to have. Most people have been positive about my plans until someone was really discouraging yesterday. He suggested using my education background an looking at TEFL training. Problem is, TEFL related jobs seem to be few and far between in this country and I'm not planning on moving abroad!
I think I'll stick to my plan and I may get back to you.
I agree with everyone's comments re DS1's job. He won't miss the 5.10am get up and didn't earn much this week, but it would have been a start.
I did two HHCs and then made lunch. Went shopping locally, but DS2 didn't want to come as it's really cold today. Since then I've sorted out stuff in the fridge and put all shopping away, as well as making some tea for DS1 and DH. Me and DS2 next, I think, and then on to some laundry and a HHC in the kitchen.0 -
Well I had a good time in town with the DD's - got some pics for DD2 and some pressies for DS. Took DD1 to buy notecards and cheap books ( she loves a bargain) and sorted DD2 a new phone.
Paid large cheque into savings account - it took a lot of paperwork and 2 people who wanted to offer me allsorts of accounts and help:mad: - I know it's their job but we want to sit down and think about what we're going to do with it!
Paying off the mortgage was an easy decision - the said mortgage is an endowment one and is scheduled to under perform - but it is through OH's work so I couldn't sort it out and he didn't get round to doing it!;);)
The mortgage was a staff one - OH works for a major insurance firm in York - so what is really interesting is whether or not the word has got through to H/R about the mortgage being paid because the payments have been made at source... We are keeping the endowments going - there will be a payout in a couple of years! The kids were disappointed that we weren't using the money to extend - but this is the best plan!
Hope everyone else had a good day!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
deeply envious of the mortgage free status CY, congratulations
I scrubbed the back hall, and the doors and everything looks so much brighter. Started on my snug now, same basis take everything out, scrub and then put the essentials back in. No point doing the dining room till the kitchen is finished but we are starting to see the joy of finally having some storage. Once the kitchen is done, the spare bookcases from the dining room can go into DHs study and then I can un-double and triple stack some of the others. The cookery collection are moving to the kitchen too. Can I cope with the trauma of empty shelves although in my experience books expland to slightly overfill the space allocated to them 'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Oh Gawd, its nearly sunday, the week went whoosh...
This means I have a day to get some semblence of order to the
breeding books
lava flowing paperwork
multiplying piles of stuff
Upside I've been getting my act together re my new business.
Downside I got a parking ticket today, pfft, £35 straight into the councils coffers.:(
Bear with me re flying, its happening in tiny stages.:D
Glad you're feeling slightly better Greenbee, mahoosive congratulations to CY for becoming mortgage free and a belated birthday greeting to hex2.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08
