Fantastic Lee! You'll get £100 when you scrap it, so it's a free car, well done- I hope you enjoy it (you smug git!)

Looking through the MOT history, it turns out it has failed every MOT for the past 5 years. Current MOT runs out in July and the car has only done 2,700 miles since last MOT.

Think it's worth a punt to MOT it now to see if it will pass?

    It currently has 4 advisories...
Nearside Front floor Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (2.4.A.3)

Nearside Front inner sill Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (2.4.A.3)

Offside Front floor Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (2.4.A.3)

Offside Front inner sill Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (2.4.A.3)

But not sure how serious these are.

Probably worth taking it easy down rough roads and over speed bumps;)
  • Might range from surface rust to half-rusted through.
I'd certainly want to see them for myself and wire brush then slap on some goop.
  • Time for an update!

I sold the 75 on for a profit - score. 8,000 miles of luxury and I got paid for it. :)

In the end I opted for another bargain I was offered - an MG ZS diesel for £790 (discounted due to an engine issue).

It has the 2.0 L series diesel engine - rock solid and capable of mega miles. However, the reason this one was so cheap is that it's sucked up some water at some point, and slightly bent a conrod or valve causing a slight misfire when cold at idle.

Loads of recent work including clutch, belts, CV joints etc etc.

Also a total hoot to drive due to a nice, torquey power curve and 17" alloys, combined with pretty hard suspension.

You can remap those engines to something ridiculous like 160bhp - faster than the fast ZR I believe. Is it still 99bhp in the ZS, as in the 25?

I think you have to revisit the bent conrod/valve diagnosis. If it did suffer that it would be rough at all speeds and shake itself to destruction in no time at all.
