£200 focus I've had for 2.5 yrs cost me £90 (incl cost of MOT) today due to a couple of school boy errors.
Don't book MOT on expiry dateCheck brake light bulbs
I have a unwritten rule that if bill is <£100 I don't question it but really should have not been lazy and fitted the new parts myself as garage charged labour and a massive mark up on parts. I could have easily saved £40 on the £90 final bill. Lessons learnt."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson2 -

Total spend to date is...hang on...
£778 after the wheel bearing being done in Sept.
We'll see what this MoT brings, but not expecting much if anything.... at £30 p.a. tax, under £180 to insure and 60mpg it's deffo a keeper for a few more years
I'll update in a fortnight when it's done and I know exact cost.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Well, I have a dilemma now with the '97 Fiesta. It is a cracking car, never misses a beat and I very much suspect I'd be saying the same in another 10 years.
However some bright spark at City Hall has suggested they will extend the ULEZ to cover where I live and, frankly, paying £12.50 or more per day to use the car is a non-starter.
What to do?

The car is immaculate and more reliable than many a new model to have passed under our wing - the Ford Zetec engines are a joy. Only 55k miles.
Then, suddenly, Sadiq announces this change to happen as soon as next year. Well beyond anything he ever threatened in his election bumpf.

We were really expecting to get a good many years from this car yet.0 -
OK, so the Fusion got it's MoT repairs and new ticket yesterday - wheel bearing, brake pipe and system bled ( a fiddly one that goes over the subframe), headlights buffed to sparkly and a brake bulb had popped, £173.00 all-in and ticket until mid-April next year......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Oops, forgot to update the running total...
Fusion Jr. has now cost in total to date £951. That should cover 2 yrs-worth as not expecting anything until at least next MoT (based on getting a look underneath while MoT was happening and what the advisories were).......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Not quite bangernomics but my 57 plate Volvo V70 D5 cost me £2700 4 years ago. It’s coming up to 14 years old. Bought at 112,000 miles now on 143,000. It’s pretty economical for a big old car. Expenses have been timing belt and auxiliary belt, 4 new tyres, oil changes x 4. Services for fuel filter, air filter, coolant etc. By far the best car I have ever owned after “getting off” the PCP merry go round. Probably due brake pads and discs next year. It’s never let me down and handles the work commute, tip runs, allotment jobs and moving house duties (my son).1

I have been looking at second hand cars for a while. The high mileage ones just don't sell even though they are massively reduced. Even though I have had reliable cars over 100,000 I avoid buying them. There must be some good bargains to be had.0

I always ask myself, if someone has piled big miles on a car why are they selling it now? What do they know that i dont?
Theres the odd bargain to be had, but you could look at 20 before you find that one.0
