Yaris failed its MOT badly today.Brake pipe x 2
Coil spring
Dreaded welding - first time it’s needed this.Total bill £600.Decided to get the work done for another year in it.2 -
the way used prices are at the moment that's a good call....just been looking for our youngest and it can be slim pickings. Finally found an Astra for 750, and spent 500-odd to sort out MoT and few other bits but it's a nice drive nowtommyedinburgh said:Yaris failed its MOT badly today.Brake pipe x 2

Totally agree, I had a 5 min look on gumtree and the decision was made to get the work done.In all honesty I will keep the car until it dies now. Really hoping for another few years all being well.0

I’m hoping for an MOT pass next week too with my 16 year old Nissantommyedinburgh said:Totally agree, I had a 5 min look on gumtree and the decision was made to get the work done.In all honesty I will keep the car until it dies now. Really hoping for another few years all being well.0 -
My weld was needed near the rear axle. Apparently it’s common on Yaris’ that age.0

Total cost was £555. That was for the rear axle welding, a good amount of brake pipes, rear brake shoes, coil spring and drop link. I felt that was quite good value for money. So glad I have a mechanic that I trust.4

That is, indeed, the trick if you're limited on DIY (like me these days)tommyedinburgh said:Total cost was £555. Another wheel bearing done on Fusion JrGunJack said:Oops, forgot to update the running total...
Fusion Jr. has now cost in total to date £951. That should cover 2 yrs-worth as not expecting anything until at least next MoT (based on getting a look underneath while MoT was happening and what the advisories were).
I have worked out why the rear passenger one goes on them - the fuel tank is on that side, and with a full tank in it and the roads I mainly drive on must put extra load on that bearing...it was the same on the original Fusion. Total now £1041... ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

2002 MK1 Focus Ghia workhorse still going a treat, passed MOT in October with just a couple of advisories for tyres. Could do with a new heater blower as it's starting to squeak.2
