You might even find something that allows you a little bit of fun, like this beauty with MOT until December 2023:

Needs a new set of tyres, though.

My Focus Ghia run-a-bout cost me £600 (or was it £650 can't remember) in Sep 2021 with 75K miles on the clock with 11 & half month MOT. Passed MOT again last Oct (wasn't using it since MOT expired) with just a couple of advisories. Still running now and has only cost me £140 for a new heater blower fitted since I purchased the car.

Will need new tyres all round soon as per the MOT advisories but other than that it's been cheap motoring although it is my second car so doesn't do a lot of miles.

Place near me does them £15 a corner, ok if you just need an odd tyre but in this case I'll end up with 4 mismatched tyres.  :D

Well, I've had Fusion Junior for 2 years now, total cost £1041 (including the 2x rear passenger wheel bearings  :# , not too shabby to be fair. Brakes may need some attention for MoT in early April, will just have to see how it goes..

Just done insurance renewal for 1 March, £171 fully comp and protected 20+ yrs NCB inc. legal, glass, personal accident and courtesy car...bargain :)

  • Hi, we have a Megane (2005) 2, 1.5 DCI Diesel. We bought it with, wait for it....152,000 miles on the clock for £650.
The car has no service history. A month after buying it in november 2022 the car overheated and then had a new timing belt and water pump fitted (£600). Did that
Car runs well now. Ive changed the Oil, Oil filter, cleaned the EGR valve, changed the pads and rotors, fixed the loose handbrake and changed the inner steering ball joint and changed the fuel filter. Did that all myself.
Additives have also been added, probably wont do anything though.
Anyway, how many more miles do you think we could get out of this if we look after it, regular 10,000 mile oil changes and servicing?
I ask because we live in a rural area and picking up used cars is a bit of a headache.

    Kind regards,

    J
