I have a quick look every now & again on Autotrader, and I must say it does seem a bit of a quiet market at the moment...it happens, it'll pick up again :)

@Worried Jim - so good to see this thread still going.
Never bought a brand new car, but back in 2011, the missus fancied a Mazda 3 - 2 years old. It cost around £5.5K, and was the worst car we have ever had, so in 2012 we bought a 2005 Skoda Octavia with 93K on the clock. We sold the Mazda for around the same as we bought it for and pocketed around £3K after buying the Skoda.
The Skoda last week passed 170K miles and has been a real workhorse. We ahve taken it on four long continental holidays and it has never let us down - fingers crossed.
