Yep, it doesn't all make sense, from that perspective (She lost a brother in a car accident). She warned me about the tyre before purchase, but I didn't expect it to be that bad, frankly.

That was my point of view, regarding the car. Even if it has, 2/300 in repairs due, it'll still be quality, bargain motoring. I honestly don't think it will, though.

I'll let you know once I run it through the MOT.
  • Af for wing mirror, look on that bay auction site thingy. ;)
I used to get 'em for my old Corsa on there, cheap & should be easy to fit too - just watch out for fancy colours! :D
    Good luck.

We've got a quite large one nearby, too. Didn't think of that.

Good luck on the megane! My first car was a Laguna, lovely car.

Edit:Just rang the scrap yard. I must be old, I remember the days my dad used to take a spanner, screwdriver, and do the job yourself. Now, they have a parts department. Pfft.

  • I was for always buying mirrors off eBay for the 206. Had 5 broken in total over the years. None broken yet on the Megane.

EU regs and insurance - plus, they get to control what walks out the door, instead of in pockets and toolboxes. :)
Not me. I never stuffed my pockets with relays and headlamp bulbs.

I've seen them for sale on Ebay, for ~£20 (Third party), but, Car Transplants say they have them in at regular intervals, for ~£20. I'll hold off for an official one, I think.

Now I know why my dad used to take me!

Do you think this is a good prospect for bangermonics success?

05 Reg Octavia 1.9 tdi, 101k, FSH & documentation, no known problems, runs well. 60mpg.

The disadvatage is that it well need a cambelt/waterpump change at the next service together with (very likely) rear brakes, and soon after that tyres. So, about £1,200 for rountine service and replacement items in the next 6 months.

After which it could continue to give reliable and economical service for 2/3 years +. Or, after 10 yrs and 101k, the DMF and other components could start to fail.

    What do you think?

Many of those parts would need doing on any car. Tyres & brakes are consumable so would be in any equation - also you know once done they will last while you keep the car. 05 should be before DPF and such like so less of the hassle issues of later cars.

As long as oil change has been done spot on then could be a good buy.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
