Out of the 2m or so invoices sent out each year by all these scammers, there are a few dozen taken to court, out of those probably some will be a win for the parking companies, but if the case properly defended then virtually none are lost. The claims on their websites that they pursue all non payers is total rubbish, looking at the figures some estimate about half of these invoices are not paid, so where are these million or so small claims in the system ? The answer is that they don't get there, the whole small claims system would collapse if they had that many, there would be about 3500 cases a day on average, don't know how many courts hear small claims in the UK but let's assume there are about a hundred , that would mean there'd be about 35 a day everyday .

So if that was the case why do company's quote a case from 2008 from a rival company on their websites? The answer is that they have no other cases to quote from, basically they are lying, and the small claims listings will confirm their lies.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

  • "Jizzler is the perfect troll!" And with a name just begging for comments!

Off topic, I know, but too easy to miss!
  • It would be best to find out if the area you parked in was part of the retail park or a public road. And was the ticket issued by the council or a contracted company for the retail park?

I would ignore it if it was part of the retail park.

BTW when does clamping officially get banned

Pretty much, yes, as they have no legal standing.

UKCPS are a private scamming contractor, they DO NOT work for ANY COUNCIL.

The op also stated "down the side of a shop on a retail park"....does that give you more of a clue that its on the retail park and thats its a nonsence scamming ticket ?
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful
  • Statistically, you are more likely to win the lottery jackpot than be taken to court by a private parking company.

Most of those they take to court they lose, since their claims have no foundation in law and get thrown out.

Where they "win", it's because they issue claims against people who have moved, so they never get the paperwork, and the judgment is entered on default. Of course they don't get any money for this, but they crow about it just the same.

The other type of "win" they have is when they sue a "stooge"- one of their own people- who then doesn't put up any proper defence and loses. Once again, pure propaganda.

On a properly defended case they inevitably lose, hence they don't bother trying. They simply rely on the fact many people don't know this and just use threats, which the ignorant fall for.
  • ive just had a ticket for parking over 2 bays do i ignore this aswell?
