I received this letter off them this morning. What do I do now?
Cheers

Ive just recieved a ticket off UKCPS. The box that they marked on my ticket says that Ive recieved the ticket for parking "without a valid permit or authority."
I was parked on white zigzags down the side of a shop on a retail park while I ran into a shop. I even left my eldest kids in the car I was so quick, but they still left the ticket! I wasnt in anyones way, or obstructing any roads, it was merely a road that deliveries use to get behind the shop.

What do I do? Ignore? Can/will they take me to court?
:)

Ignore completely, don't appeal, don't contact them, and if you get a private message from Peter haswell on here ignore him also. Basically you have unenforceable invoice requesting payment nothing more. You will get junk mail demanding payment from them and their agents, they are all powerless and will not take you to court, they will request registered keeper info from the dvla but if you don't tell them who the driver is it all falls down.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Why do you think the zig-zag white lines are on the road for decoration ?

    Hilarious.

Like I said, I was 2 minutes, and you have never seen the parking situation at this retail park.

Wonderful thanks. So as long as I dont tell them that *I* was driving, they cant prove anything? What IF they did take me to court? Do I just play dumb?

The simple answer is that on private land it's advisory only, the same for parking bays and taxi ranks and the other garbage there. Though whether the OP is right or wrong to park there, he should ignore the scammers.

In the extremely small chance they take you to court we can offer you a good defence, and so can pepipoo who are the experts. The primary thing about these invoices are, was there any loss to the landowner ? Did they lose out financially by you parking there ? Of course not, so its plainly a penalty for parking there, it's illegal for private companies to issue those without an authority from a council, something they don't have in this case.

They wont take you to court, for they have no loss to claim.
However, they WILL come back for more money if you do pay them and sooner or later you have to ignore them anyway or they empty your bank.
It is a scam that IMPERSONATES authority, keep that firmly in mind and beware it changes characters.

Yes they will ask and pay £2.50 to get the registered keeper details, the DVLA will sell on your details as they are part of the parcel of this scam, they pocket millions out of this, and they are above the data protection act it seems at the moment.

Oh right, God, I would have thought that would be illegal! That makes it seem all the more convincing as well. Well thanks everyone. I'll look forward to my "threatening" letters and will report back here if theres anything im unsure about.

Are there no cases of it going to court?
    :)
