    To ILW - Let's agree to disagree here.

    I feel no sympathy for people who say they are not in position to apply for better paid jobs, especially people who lived all their life in UK, English is their own language etc.

    I came here at the age of 22 with a 1 yo child and my English was far from being perfect. It took me time (years) , effort (study and building up my qualifications), time away from my daughter when she was a child and a good few very low paid jobs (sometimes more than one at a time) to get to where I was in my last job.

    It is not lack of opportunieties in UK that stops people applying for better paid jobs. They make their own choices - I have made mine. I am not going back to where I was 21 years ago.
