If there are no jobs out there how is the the Job centres have vacancies.

Perhaps they take their lead from employment agencies of bygone times when they use to advertise non existant jobs just to attract applicants.

In my working life I have been redundant three times and each time I treated it as a challenge. I never felt sorry for myself and was prepared to take anything in the hope it would lead to something better and it often did.

As long as it is honest be prepared to do anything.

Well there are plenty of jobs out there, but there are also hundreds of people going for each one. It is a numbers game, with the odds on getting a job a lot less than say a year or two ago.

The main thing is to understand that these people have no idea what it's like to be unemployed and not take the negativity on board, I know how difficult this is, but that's the biggest difference in getting a job and not, if you start taking on board that you will never get a job, it's like you wear it like a badge and it actually gets more difficult.

I would take anything but look at this, a cleaner job.

    Job Duties:
General cleaning duties to include dusting and vacuuming.
    Qualifications / Experience:
Must have 1 years previous experience.

    I mean please come on.

I suspect it depends on where you live. I live near Oxford and around here there are plenty of jobs, although of course it depends on what jobs people are looking for. Bicester Village Retail Outlet is always advertising vacancies.

Have you never dusted or vacuumed your house, surely you have 'experience' !! :p

  • a bit like the 'average house price''..

a false economy, i fear - 1,000 (part time, maybe only 10-20 hours?) time jobs would only have same combined hours as 300 f/t ones..

It all really depends what type, where, how long for etc..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Im not worried by the fact there aren't any jobs out there it's more the fact that graduates like myself have to compete with qualified professionals with years of experience for jobs that are well below there standard.
  • The economics are that if there were 2.67 million jobs out there then we would not have 2.67 million out of work. Hence there must be less than that or employers would be screaming that they cannot find people to fill the jobs. As it is they are complaining that 300 people are applying for each one.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

When someone on Reddit said that every job they found needed experience and if I didn't believe them to look on the job search, I did just that. In less than 30 seconds in one category I found three that said no experience or training was provided. And I live in a sparsely populated rural county.

But that has been the same for every person who has left school/college/uni since the dawn of time.
