And I bet that was Door to door or Telemarketing? Not everyone can do those jobs (or get to them if they rely on public transport).

    Nope, bar and hotel work.
  • And I would not.

I did not spend years training/getting to where I was before losing my last job to now, at my age start looking at NMW jobs, sorry.

No problem. Just don't complain when you have your JSA stopped once you've reached the 6 month mark for not complying with the requirements of claiming.

You can't be picky with what isn't there, I thought the same as you until I was made unemployed this time, its a nightmare out there.

This is what I have to chose from, bear in mind there is approx 800 people locally claiming JSA.

Dont be picky? lol You have to get an offer first and with all respect an 18yr olds expereince is a little less than say a 40 year old with 24 years expereince where companies deam you to be over qualified or wont interview you as you are not working due to redundancy.

I have applied for jobs that I was doing 20 years ago and get turned down so I am not picky, it's called being over qualified

    Does that actually happen?

The economics are that if there were 2.67 million jobs out there then we would not have 2.67 million out of work. Hence there must be less than that or employers would be screaming that they cannot find people to fill the jobs. As it is they are complaining that 300 people are applying for each one.
And most of the 300+ are not unemployed and if only the employed get new jobs then the unemployed keep chasing jobs that they will never get.

it would be great in ideal world but its the companies that are picky

plus the fact the jobs dont exist

and if they do you need a car or there looking for someone without experience that they can train

    Nope, bar and hotel work.

Bar and hotel work is OK I have done it but remember the hours can be all over the place so unless you have transport or live in walking distance it isn't going to happen.

I did bar work in 2009 as a stop gap and had to rely on lifts to get home or get to the job 6 days a week, I was lucky that time but it could soon get me the sack if I can't do shifts due to not getting home.

When I was 17 I worked in a restaurant 8am-2pm then 5pm-930pm then had to wait for the bus til 1115pm 6 days a week thankfully I realised it was making me ill and I had no life.
