Have you noticed how busy Aldi and Lidl are lately!

Maybe I expect less, but the staff at my local Lidl are really nice. It does bug me now though that since Christmas in particular, it's much harder to park on a Saturday morning- I know , I know, I just don't want to share nicely lol.
I used to get mainly the special offers and fruit & veg, but now do the majority of my weekly shop there. The quality of the fruit and veg are second to none locally.* Ebay- 1 Bag a Day *0 -

If you put the cars in age order at the Aldi car park I have been to 1 being the oldest and 40 being the youngest - my car would been about at number 10 - even though its an 07 reg.0

I do hope with Aldi and Lidl becoming more popular, they need to employ about 2-4 extra staff per store, or install self scan tills.
The average number of items I buy in a single transaction at Aldi is about 6. Some customers see me just holding 6 items and let me through first - though some of it could be due to the fact they recognise me that I work for Sainsburys and don't want to spend all my days off and annual leave in food retail outlets:D0 -

no - its normal ettiquette at Aldi - if you have a full trolley then someone clutching a few items is waved ahead!0 -

I think it was just all too much for her. A family member was at a different till and overheard the woman who walked off partway through putting my items through asking if the other shop
assistant was struggling too - maybe it all got a bit much, she had told me off for putting my breakable items (eggs, biscuits, crisps) into an open bag inside the trolley and that's when she walked off. At this stage there was no one behind me and the bag was ready open in the trolley, not causing any time delays but I realise this is against the rules.

Bloody hell:mad: They don't treat you like that in the regular supermarkets & they are super nice in Waitrose.0 -
I've been a once a week regular at my local Lidl since it opened. I've found myself going there more often lately though, and to Tesco much less. Tesco is just too big, too much rubbish to wade through and their pricing practices (labels in the wrong places, hiding the offers away from the main shelves, fudging the price per 100g/kilo/piece as much as possible) are downright deceitful tbh. And there's fewer and fewer real bargains to be had at Tesco despite the hype, and the quality has gone through the floor as fast as the prices of basics has gone up.
So now it's twice per week to Lidl and only to Tesco at whoopsie time, and for nothing else. My Lidl is an easy size, the staff are friendly, it's clean (my local Asda invariably has sticky floors) and the fruit, veg and meat are all excellent. Plus my usual £40 shop from Tesco is around £25-£30 in Lidl. Tesco is just too expensive.
Aldi? There's one almost next door to my Lidl but I rarely go into it. I don't seem to be able to get everything on my list in Aldi.Val.0 -
We have been doing all our main shop at Lidl and Aldi (can do both in the time it takes a Tesco checkout to scan the items!) As much as we hate it have to dance with the devil and get a few odds ends from Tesco once a month.
But Lidl is becoming a bit of an adventure, one evening a couple of weeks a go there was a punch up between three hoodies and the manager. Yesterday 2 young assistants had to chuck out a couple of old tinkers trying to shoplift a tartan trolley load and claiming dementia as an excuse. Behind me at the checkout was a HUGE tramp buying just a packet of pitta breads, what a pong! I swear he looked just like Hagrid from Harry Potter!!0
