Have you noticed how busy Aldi and Lidl are lately!

Thats about what I save too! I did a price comparison the other week and OH was truly shocked! LOL - tho when we DO go to Tressco for our top up shop he takes a keen interest in thier prices! usually he will say - 'Not buying THAT here - we will get it at Aldi'!
He also moans that Tressco takes too long to get around, the staff at the tills are too slow, its too crowded, theres too much choice, the offers are baffling? (he finds it difficult to work out if its cheaper to buy two small tins on offer or one large tin - and very often I find them baffling too), and having to queue for ten minutes to leave the car park last time - he definately had a Victor Meldrew moment! (I found that hysterically funny - he didnt).:)0 -

There is a £5 off £30 spend at Aldi in today's Daily Mirror, valid from today until next Thursday 1st March.0 -

I personally think Lidl is getting more expensive. Today went to my local Lidl and noticed price increase. For example, Floralis toilet paper: few weeks ago was £1.69, today £1.89, one year ago £1.39:eek:
Do they think that people will not notice because Lidl is know as a cheap??0 -
i remember kwik save use to be real cheap and then it got buzzier and buzzier and they got over confident and start sneaking the prices up and people noticed and start to go elsewhere, then they sold out to somerfield
asda bought netto and started doing the same
I hope this dosent happen to aldi and lidle“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

I used to go to Aldi only every now and then - you couldn't get the brands then (not that I use brands now, ironically) and the range seemed a bit limited. Now the range is amazing - Aldi became my first stop for pre-Christmas shopping a couple of years ago when they brought in all those brilliant cooked meats - and now I'm really budgeting the difference on things like milk and eggs gets me in the store once a week, and seeing as I can get veg and free range meat there too, why bother going anywhere else?
I make my own granola and sometimes my own bread - but we've got a health food co-op (two, actually, poncy middle class town that I live in) so I can buy stuff in bulk there.
The only time I'm bothering with other SMs now is to see if they've got YS stuff. And increasingly I look at the discounts and think I could STILL get it cheaper at Aldi. Though in fairness I do have to do top up shops at Sains, as I don't get home in time always to get to Aldi before they close at 8.Grocery challenge September 2022: £230.04/£200

I’ve been doing the main shop in Morrisons for the last fre weeks; 2x 15p vouchers is too good to turn down (split £150-ish shop into 2 lots with OH, as Weds is our day off).
This is a store that’s getting busier and busier, and we’re in there about 10am, so it’s not as if you’re getting the aforementioned after-school-run shoppers, it’s mainly the older generation in there.

All these newcomers to my local Aldi are driving me mad! I used to be able to fill my trolly and be in and out in quick smart time. For the past few weeks, however, the store has been ultra busy and, whatever item I want to pick up, I can guarantee there are groups of people in front having a committee meeting about it! Plus the staff don't seem to be able to cope with the upsurge in demand and I am finding lots of empty spaces in the fridges/freezers/shelves. Across the road Asda seems just as busy as it was but Sainsbury's, on the other hand, I have never seen it as quiet. I would buy more if only they had baskets! I don't know why they don't, they can't be that expensive. In the end it will lose them money by people not buying as much as they can't carry it. And, i'm not using a trolley for less than 10 items!!!
I also noticed at Lidl, that there is no run off area at the till, so you have to be pretty quick putting your shopping away.0 -

You are self-employed at Aldi and Lidl though so bear in mind tax and NI has to come off that wage advertised.0 -

Our local Aldi has just started supplying baskets so I am assuming all their stores do likewise. There doesn't seem to be a huge pile of them so I suppose when the store is busy they soon run out."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
