Have you noticed how busy Aldi and Lidl are lately!

I've always shopped in Aldi and Lidl and sometimes sturday morning have been only one of a few people happily pootling round the store. No more. Went to Aldi yesterday, about 10am (day off) and the car park was jam packed and no trollies!! Went inside and every isle was full to busting. I noticed the car park had a huge amount of Mercs/Bmw's and the like. The secret is out

and how people-free the big Tesc*s and Sainsbobs seems to be during the week.People are voting with their purses and their feet I think I went to Asd*s and M*rrisons during the week and it was a drive to get there (about 5 miles ) but I still think overall I saved money0

We don't have a Lidl near to us sadly, but I know all the staff in our Aldi and they tell me that their sales figures are through the roof. It just goes to show that everyone is feeling the pinch and I think it will get worse the deeper the cuts get.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

We always shop at Aldi on a sunday morning & it's getting busier every week.
Last week they had all four tills open & i've never seen more than two open.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
I think the Daily Mail did an article on Ald*. A family swopped Sainsbobs for Aldi* and saved a fortune. So now the 4 wheel drive brigade seem to be using their common sense?
As long as they leave my free range chicken and eggs alone.0 -
I'm just amazed it took so long. I live within 5 minutes walk of an Aldi and do most of my shopping there-however yesterday I did a food shop in M&S (I'm skint but had some vouchers) . I really don't like the layout in M&S even in the bigger stores it feels cramped in the food hall and stock levels weren't terrific with several gaps in stock.
If I was paying "real money" to shop there I'd be wondering why I was paying so much more for not much better.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I've only been living in my new place for three months and the local Lidl has definitely been getting busier even in this short space of time. I do pick up quite a few things there but also have a fantastic Turkish supermarket close by where I can get a lot of things even cheaper. They do fantastic bread for 50p, you can buy giant tins of butter beans for 59p, tinned toms for 39p. It's brilliant, I just have to remember I have to walk up a hill to get home!Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650

As this thread is more related to shopping than Old Style, I've moved it over to the Food Shopping and Groceries board.
