  • Workfare means most of my neighours are boycotting our local Tescos right now and going a bit further away to Iceland and Lidls instead.

Tesco just got too greedy and scuppered themselves. It's a pretty deprived are so people were watching their budgets anyway. It's not exactly a hotbed of political activism though, so if my neighbours are feeling like this I expect others around the country are too.

Course once you try it you realise Lidls and Aldi do have some decent quality products too ; )
  • I have always popped into Aldi to pick up the super six and a few other bits but never done a big shop there. I thought I would give it a try a few weeks ago when the £5 off vouchers where in the papers. I was very pleased with my shop and happy with the amount I got for my money. I have now started to do my big shop there and only nip into Tesco or Sainsburys if they have an offer that I want. I really wish I had realised sooner, I can see the amount of money I am saving already :j
  • As I have put in the Lidl offers thread I have noticed that the half price weekend offers are selling out alot more quickly than they used to. I pretty much have to get there when the shop opens to get the offers, today I was there for 8.15am and the 5 packets left looked pretty lonely in the boxes, they were filled up again but by the time I was ready for the checkout they had all sold out. I was in there for 25 minutes.

Went to our local aldi about an hour ago and it was absolutely jam packed, letting my niece steer the trolley also meant we nearly caused a few trolley crashes! ;)
  • Where possible, I either pop in early [i.e. before 8:30am] or around 6pm, but I nipped in yesterday around 1PM - the place was packed! I know a lot of that will be down to it being half-term, but even so, it was busy.

  • I agree with the posts here; we made our first weekly shop at ALDI last night and I'm kicking myself for now doing it sooner! The money we saved was pretty damn good in my opinion!

I've started to use Aldi again after being a bit lazy and getting Mr A to pick and delivery my shopping. So to buck my ideas up I compared prices against my Aldi receipt and that well known supermarket comparison site and over just 3 weeks I had saved £34.85:j

It doesn't cost me any extra in fuel as I pass an Aldi every Thursday so I can pop in and do my big weekly shop and save lots ;)

However, I have noticed that little price rises are creeping in - I do hope that they do not get greedy and lose their market...

In Lidl's I can buy one pack of nice Cumberland sausages for £1.99, In Tescos I would have to buy at least 3 packs to get anywhere near the same price! If I only bought one it would be around £2.70.
