It is no different then is it?
The handset is the hardware and no software is going to change that only adapt or enhance the hardware features, earlyy iphones cannot run facetime, just as say a a HTC Hero will not benefit from an NFC software update. The non Apple devices adopt some or all features of the OS it is not obligatory to adopt them all, many users will never use the features or have a desire to.
The update also cover the security and other bugs not just functions. The older version of OS may have been safe then but since then people may have installed apps such as Barclays or banking. Are you saying all Android versions are as safe and secured, bug free as the new ones so don't need any update?

Also it is WRONG for Google to hack into iphone Safari browser for money gain:

Consumers are outraged at news reports today that Google used a work-around hack to ‘trick’ the Apple Safari browser into allowing the dominant Internet and advertising company to track the Web browsing habits of millions of Apple users

I dont think even Apple would have expected this from Google, 15 year hacker may be.

It is CORRECT for Apple to take quick action:
Apple is reportedly working to stop this kind of activity, and the loophole has already been closed in WebKit.

In this case CAT is Apple and MOUSE is Google. The cat will be in the front very soon.

The google must be desperate to increase the turnover at any cost to keep its share holder happy or is it lossing something we dont know off. The google should be focusing on making Android phones safe not trying to hack iphones. Thats what make a good company.

The thread is not about that though is it?
Perhaps you should look at your own original post, you were whining about an app not running on non stock handsets, barclays make it clear which version of OS the app will run on.
Thats why millions of users choose Android devices.

I cant understand what you mean. The millions of users choose Android because some apps dont work with their device but app show you what device the app is going to work on. This seem to me odd way to get more customers, most people will perfer one OS which can e updated as and when newer version is out so apps work on all devices.

The point is if update to newer version are more common less people will use non-stock os.

    What don't you understand?
MOST smartphone users have adopted the android OS as their choice, the apps that don't work are irrelevant to their needs, what part of that don't you understand?

From the Barclays site "The Barclays Pingit app only works with Android 2.2 and above, iOS 4.2 and above and BlackBerry OS 4.6 and above." So if a user does not have one of those OS installed they will not be able to enjoy the features of the Application, do note Apple OS is included in there not rooted or jailbroken devices.

But it wasn't just google was it. It was other companies as well. Apple didn't bother closing this loophole as usual until it made the news. The fault with safari has been known for some time.
