In any thread where people are considering making decisions about whether or not to purchase a particular item it is perfectly reasonable to point out the disadvantages of that particular purchase. In this case the disadvantages are permanent damage to the brain and body health. You may be happy to play Russian Roulette with your health, others may not be so cavalier with their future health. But the important thing is people should be aware of the potential dangers and this is a perfectly appropriate place to offer that information.

I think you made your point in a previous post ... you don't have to keep going on about it
Whether or not you think it is ethically appropriate to offer high trans fat treats to people who may be wanting to concieve is for you to judge, I'm sure you don't mind setting someone on the path to cancer, multiple scelerosis, diverticulisis and obesity, this presumably is something you will regard as a good laugh. I expect some would also consider it fine to press alcohol on someone with a drink driving history or fags on someone who is trying to give up.

Eh?? What?? Why would I want to set someone on the path to cancer??

I want a doughnut for god's sake. A simple little doughtnut. Wow, you'd think I was trying to force feed people into taking drugs or something. What is wrong with you??? Talk about getting stressed out over a bit of fat and sugar ........
You think I should get a life.

Well if that's the best you can do with yours your welcome to it.

Thankyou, finally we are getting somewhere! It is MY life and I shall do with it as I please ...

...and as stated early, this thread is not the place for this discussion Doctor!

I thought this forum was for intelligent people wanting to make evidence based money saving purchases sorry for being so ignorant. It's clearly for people who fed up with moneysaving want to take the quick route to ill health and an early death. Sorry to get in your way.

Have a happy but short life. It's called natural selection and clearly some are determined to be selected out.

Oops - you were being serious.

To each, his, or her, own.
The promoting of health issues is undoubtedly important, and I think you have made your feelings known on the subject of trans fats.
However there is no need to come onto a forum and call people stupid for having a discussion about a particular food.

And for info - the ban on smoking in public places is designed to protect people from the effects of passive smoking not to stop people smoking per se.

  • Ted_Hutchinson - Are you not aware that you are actually on here talking to yourself, the majority of us died from CJD a few years ago and the ones that survived recently died from Bird Flu.

Still, like you say, you'll be going strong...although alone

Sorry, I always check the accuracy of the information I put online. So I needed to confirm my claim that each KK contained 4g of TRANS FAT, where better than KK.

As trans fat is probably more dangerous to health than tobacco it is more ethically challenged to promote the eating of foods containing trans than it is to promote smoking. I foolishly thought this forum was about sensible shopping with the injunction Don't Drop Clearly others are determined to bring on the dropping.

So what is the appropriate term to describe people who appear to be wholly ignorant about the dangers of trans fat?
Perhaps some of you do know about the extent of those dangers but choose to disregard them. What is the appropriate term to describe those people?
the ban on smoking in public places is designed to protect people from the effects of passive smoking not to stop people smoking per se.
But we know that making life harder for smokers will have the beneficial effect of making them give up. A similar benefit to the overall health of the nation could occur if we could motivate people to move towards a Trans fat Ban While it is good news that KK are moving towards a change it is far to early, and in my view dangerously misguided, to suggest to anyone that eating any food loaded with trans fat is a good idea, either as an occasional treat or one you can enjoy daily.

A lack of knowledge about a particular subject does not make a person stupid.

    Decisions, decisions ..........
  • Ted I have appreciated your comments with regards to trans fats and the like because I didn't really know that much about them and like to consider myself healthy, eating properly and going to the gym most days. I will look out for these in future, I knew they were bad just not quite so bad.
That said I think the point was made a little while back and going on about it just gets people annoyed, it's one thing giving helpful info and another styfling others conversations to get your point accross.

Same as you I didn't find them especially tasty but then I think other donuts won't stay soft after a day in the fridge.

You know why they were still soft though dont you? Its because they are full of fat and processed. As Ted said KK's have trans-fat in (trans fat was engineered to give products a longer shelf life). So if your KK's are still soft a day or two later whereas normal doughnuts are like shotputs then you know why ;)
Like what I said? click thanks!:rotfl: :rotfl:
