Mmm, Aldi chocolate is fab! Their laundry detergents and washing up liquid are all either which? or good housekeeping recommended. I also find that their dishwasher tablets (all in 1) are the easiest ones to cut in half, not that i'm tight or anything :rotfl::rotfl:!They do their own version of Pringles too.
Give it a go, you'll save loads. Just remember to take your bags and a £1 coin for the trolley. And under no circumstances pack at the checkout, you do that at the shelf at the back or at the car, otherwise there's LOTS of tutting!!:p
Ooh, just check in this Thursday's mirror in case there's a £5 voucher, there was last week but was too late to get a copy.:mad:Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Hi - yes we are ALD= converts. Not all the time as its a car journey away but definitely worth using for a lot of basics.
the ones that spring to mind are:
- dairy eg. cream, yoghurts, cheese
- cat food
- crisps
- tinned fish
- biscuits
- detergents - including washing powder etc
- mayo, ketchup etc
- olives
- butter
- filter coffee
- fruit juice and squash
- SOME wine..some is good, some less so
- salamis etc
- frozen fish, berries
I have never really used their fruit and veg as do a box scheme but others say its worth it. Bread was bland though. On the other hand the sweet waffles are yum. Best thing to do is try and then see what you like. Take bags though -they only have boxes or if they have run out, you have to buy bags. Its also pack your own and as fast as possible - their staff move like lightning!

That's really helpful - thanks all of you :T
I will def try it this wknd ! I think will go with a list & no expectations and see what happens ! People at work rave about the fruit & veg and we get through a lot of that
Had an unexpected bill for vet of nearly £75 todayso that just wiped out next weeks money already ... I need to claw some back somehow ! Feel relieved I have made full pymts to mort/sec but it's near on wiped me out & have 3 wks to go ...
On a positive note / have already posted first 2 eBay sales and money has cleared already - going to leave it in payp for now, also hope to make another £50 this wk and still have phone to sell , hopefully get £250 ish so should get me through this month - as for next month ..,... Well will worry about that then I guess. I think it's Polesalot that says , somehow these things work themselves out, so I hope they will !
So, the highlight of my bank holiday weekend is , going to Ald!

I've been following but had nothing useful to contribute, the others have been bang on. Also I've been a bit preoccupied with my Mum and Dad. He has dementia and is currently in hospital recovering from and infection. It's unlikely he'll ever go home, the infection has made him take a real turn for the worse. They say he needs to go into a nursing home with round the clock care so I've been trying to sort that out.
Anyway enough of my problems, this is your thread.
I know it must have been awful for you and the children but all that grief over a book! Life is too short to fret about the small stuff.
I hadn't realized there was a bank holiday coming up.
Life at Toad Hall moves at a slower pace, I think I'll take Friday off and make a long weekend of it.
Brizzledfw and Barbeduk are right about the packing and bags at Aldi. Take your own bags and don't pack at the checkout, it make the natives fractious and prone to whinging!
Don't let the vet bill get you down, we have to look after our pets and you'll soon get back on an even keel. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Masonn am sorry to hear about your Dad - these things are never easy , sending my best wishes.
Am so glad it's Friday tomorrow (& it's nothing to do with my bottle of wine)
It's been a horrible week , lots gone wrong & I seem to have to keep shelling out money all the time ! It only takes one little thing to totally screw up your budget ....
I need to list more to sell & start getting rid of rubbish generally. Am hoping I can move at some point so I will have to start sorting out anyway !
Am hoping to get to Ald! this weekend, even if its only to check it out.
Hope everyone is having a good week ... The weekend is nearly here :TThe final chapter - £4893 to go out of £30K0 -

Aah but think how much worse a position you'd be in if you hadn't started getting your finances in order. At least when you know the situation's a bit sticky you can tweak the budgets to accomodate it and rein in any other spending.
I'm off to Aldi tonight :T I think I've saved ££££££££ over the last couple of years thanks to them. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Thought of you today coco when I was at . . . Aldi! Have bought some of their olives to take along to 'girls night in' and a bottle of their rose. Trouble is we all shop there now so no chance of any waitrose nibbles!!:DMake £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Polesalot , that is very true - tweaking the budget is called for!
Barbeduk enjoy your girls nighthope you have a great time !
Just got a text from ex to say kids had mentioned cat/vet & wanted to let me know he would give me half tomorrow - very good of him. Also , an apology for his bad behaviour ... Fair play.
Anyway , my total sales are now about £80 which am really pleased with - going to have a lean weekend & just enjoy the break :T
Will need to post a "to do" list tomorrow or else I will do nothing all weekend !
Did pizza from freezer for dinner (bad mum) and have 2 beers in fridge (bad mum) oh, and will leave hoovering till tomorrow ..... Living dangerously tonight :rotfl:
Have a good evening all xThe final chapter - £4893 to go out of £30K0 -
I can't believe it's been a week !
Been busy - sales now at nearly £150 :T
Home today - 3 loads of washing done , grocery shop done (not braved Ald! yet !) going to try to get housework done today so I don't spend all Sunday doing it
Still have lots more bits to list so going to do that this wknd. Good job I had phone to sell this month - that money has got to get me through the rest of month - lots of little unexpected expensives to deal with !
But , mortgage paid , sec loan paid & bills so ...... At least that's done. Going to be a busy summer getting my house / life back in order. Kids seem quite keen to move now so that's one less worry - just need to get it on the Market & see what happens - whether secured will accept a shortfall agreement is a different matter !
Kids supposed to be at Ex this wknd but ..... Surprise he can't have them ! So , the three of us can muck in & get stuff done , watch films , play boardgames & watch BGT final (yes I need to get out more I know !).
Housework & cuppa beckons .... Back later
