Actually, a skip isn't a bad idea. You can hire them for around £50 which if you add up the cost and time of multiple tip visits is pretty cheap.
I advertised in the local paper free ads and found someone who wanted rubble to fill a hole and I delivered it for free.Happy chappy0 -
Now that is a good recycling Idea tomstickland. surprised the tip is not selling it on as hardcore. I know they sell on anything they can0

Separate the waste:
Sort the wood and give it away for firewood
Sort the rubble and offer it on freecycle and local freeads as hardcore for filling in etc.
I sincerely hope you're not thinking of sneaking some of it into your binsBehind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -

So if you have 9 bags the council want you to make 3 journeys rather than 1.
How does clogging the roads up unecessarily and burning petrol & car fumes fit in with recycling ?0 -

We did that too, although the squares weren't that neat!
Also got rid of a v. naff 1970s brick fireplace in exactly the same manner!0 -

if you are doing alot of DIY why cant you get a skip?
having said that though its not very moneysaving is it
we offload every couple of weeks especially plastic waste i get from empty sweet tubs that i get from the stall
OOhhh... large plastic tubs... I bet local schools (or failing that freecycle) would love some... saves landfill space too!“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

I have a similar problem, I am a P&D by trade and have a small van, and all I carry is ladders paints etc.
So when I need to dump stuff off its a nightmare for me, we are refurbishing our lounge, so we wanted to dump the tatty furniture, table chairs and an old cabinet, we smashed it up, as it was no good to anyone.
I know from experience cause I have a small van, I always have to take A couple of utility bills, and my DL, to prove I am a resident in the borough.
I then have to stop at the weighbridge bit, run into the office, show my papers, they then ask me what I have in my van.
I tell them, and they are welcome to have a look, but they never have so far.
But the thing that gets me, is when I actual drive from the weighbridge office bit, and reverse up to where I want to dump it, I have at 2-3 workers sauntering by the back of my van, and you can see them having a nose, incase they think I am a hookey builder.
Bearing in mind I am a female, and only small, and I am on my own dumping it, why they would think I have the strength to dump bricks, hardcore etc I dont know.
I hate going to my dump as I have to go through this palaver everytime, and its very stressful for me, as I always think they are watching me to see what I actually dump. :rolleyes:0
