Shame actually - as it could be used as [STRIKE]evidence[/STRIKE] an example of ..... oh, there are no words.
I have just been reading the updated article and comments on The Guardian website - and the Tesco "job" was mentioned several times.
I am also now heading to the DWP/JCP website to look for more "jobs" like it (there were several last week - hmm, they must have been filled......)

Yes I saw a couple last week on the N.Ireland jobsite, haven't saw any thing week right enough0 -
Where is the self respect in working for nothing? It will lead to nothing that's the problem, Did I hear its less than 10% of people get perminant work through this scheme
But they are not working for nothing they are getting benefits. If they are not helping themselves then it is only right they are been given a push into the working world.0 -

sorry are you being deliberatly awkward no ones say that they should not do a job
but this is a permenant position not a 2 week thing therefore they should be payed a fair wage
like every other person who works the night shiftReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. Oh God - I try sitting on my hands and it doesn't work.
RB - are you being deliberately dumb - or do you not live in the real world? How did I know that the "working for benefits" drivel would come up?
Talk about predictable!
DO. NOT. use the collective "they"; that in itself makes me see red.
ANY PERSON WHO IS REQUIRED TO DO WORK -
SHOULD BE PAID.
THAT (unfortunately, the way of things) IS THE MOTIVATION RIGHT THERE.
These roles are Tesco capitalising on the unemployment situation - there is NOTHING well-meant, that may benefit the individual (note use of that word), NOTHING altruistic in their actions.

No - it's fine. I get it.
The topic is current, emotive (for some), controversial and divisive. Divisive, that is, if folk want to come out with the "they - the unemployed" and "work for benefits" bolleaux.
Nothing more to say to you in this regard.0 -
In my opinion unemployed people should be doing something-paid work to support themselves. In the absence of this I think a few hours charity work is not unreasonable as it gets people out of the house, provides training and qualificions, lunch and bus fare.Plus you are giving something back to the community, chatting to different people and not having the heating on all day at home.
There is a big difference to doing a bit of volunteering to having to work full time at a supermarket for your JSA. What happened to the NMW?,Tesco can afford to pay it.Are we devoid of all rights because we are unemployed?0 -
it wrong but i cant help thinking its fake
a because theres no ads on the direct gov page
b i would have thought tesco would put more info
and b tesco dont normaly advertise at the job centre
I thought it was fake as well but apparently not. This website has a screen shot of the original Jobseekers Direct advert.

This site gives more detail. It seems to show that the placement is for 2 nights a week.
