Sorry couldn't resist that one!I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."

I've got a coil, albeit a hormonal Mirena one, and it didn't hurt much having it put in. Less than a smear anyway. I'd have thought that being measured and all that would be uncomfortable too?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I never fancied the coil (or the implant) as I wouldn't be looking forward to the day they came out!
Have you considered trying the depo jab? There's no oestrogen, only progesterone so its less 'chemically' if that bothers you. There isn't the faff of remembering a pill or wrestling with a slippery bit of rubber every night, and the biggest bonus for me is that I haven't had a period in years! 5 extra nights a month freed up for spontaneously 'interesting' nights.0 -
I hated it tbh - fitting it and remembering to USE it! mind you it did come in handy when having a period and running out of pads. I can also remember one night being a bit sloshed and trying to fit the dam thing and it squirted out of my hand and hit the OH right in the eye! sort of put the kibosh on things after that as I couldnt stop laughing.0

Your partner is very lucky!I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."

i had a diaphram for a week - got horrid thrush and hated it. Had a coil put in 12 years ago - removed to conceive dd and another put in once she was 6 weeks old. this one gets to stay in til I hit the menopaus hopefully!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I hate a total nightmare with the coil. The first coil the GP tried to fit wouldn't sit properly and had to be withdrawn. Another one was tried but also wouldn't sit properly. It was incredibly painful, even with anaesthetic gel. Eventually, after about 40 minutes (during which the GP said she may have to call off the procedure) and a lot of bleeding the thing was in place - I was in such pain when I left that I could barely walk home and promptly threw up when I did get home from the shock. To add insult to injury, when I got my period 3 weeks later the coil came right back out and I've been told that if I wanted another it'd have to be done as an outpatients appointment in hospital using ultra-sound to ensure it gets fitted properly.
Never again...urggh.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”
