diaphragm

Im thinking of changing the form of contraception I use and was wondering if any of you have used a diaphragm(sp)?

Im currently on the pill and have been taking it religiously for about 15 years (Im 31) but as Ive got older, Im disliking the whole 'pumping my body of chemicals' and from what I have read, the diaphragm seems the way forward! neither me nor OH are a massive fan of condoms.

so, do any of you use this method? how long before getting one fitted/measured do I get one? are they easy enough to use?!

I used to have a diaphragm; it was easy to use and I was very happy with it.

Have you looked into a non-hormonal IUD/coil? The diaphragm sounds too fiddly for my liking - and having to stop to fit it doesn't sound very sexy!

Alternatively, you could tell your OH it's his turn and look into the snip?

I dont like the thought of having a coil fitted - my friend has one and while she says its fab she also said its painful to have fitted and removed

you can fit them in a couple of hours before hand to avoid the whole unsexyness!

Yes, I had a diaphragm 16 years ago, it was great while it worked but the twin results will be 17 in March!

A diaphragm never put a kink in my romantic life, dead simple to use and not as painful as a coil. And you never lose the threads LOL

  • Yup, we have used a diaphram for years and find it easy and stopping to fit it is part of the fun, and doesn't feel negative in any way.
After being 'fitted', I think the pharmacist had to order it and it took a few days.

It's worth a try - you can always change your mind.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

You're suppose to usee it every night as part of your normal routine - not to stop and put it in when things get interesting..

Are you? I would find that very tedious. We just use it when things get interesting:D Works for us.

  • I had one years ago but couldn't get to grips with it. My OH could 'feel' it.
